Tangmere pilots are recruiting
« on: November 16, 2010, 11:30:20 AM »

Tangmere Pilots ( http://www.tangmerepilots.co.uk/frames/index.htm ) are currently recruiting for keen virtual pilots to join our Squadrons.
TP consists of 4 Squadrons(No1, No43, No145 and No601) and regulary have 40+ pilots online,in HyperLobby on a Sunday evening, which is when we fly our ongoing campaign missions.
We have some of the best mission builders in the business, the amount of research and work that goes into these weekly missions have to be seen(played)to be believed,95% of these are historically accurate accounts of the missions we re-create.
At the moment we are currently flying the Battle of France Campaign, and we all know where this leads too
If you are interested just simply apply, where after you will be posted to No6_Operational Training Unit at Sutton Bridge to pass 4 Assesement Flights.
These 4 flights will cover basic flying skills and will also give you the basic RT(ventrillo)voice procedure. Also it gives you a chance to get to know us and us you.
All TP ask Recruits is that they make available flying time twice weekly.
Tuesday evening for training, and (if possible)friday to fly our COOP's.
Sunday evening 21:00 GMT is our official flying night, where we fly our online Campaign ,thus mandatory to join
Before these times we usually fly a dogfight server where we all just have a laugh(but Sundays are taken more seriously, as this is where we gain points for the respective Sqadrons and is genuinely taken a tad more seriously.
We do use a modded version of IL2 but don’t let this put you off,as there will always be someone there to help you install all that is needed with ease.

So if you want to fly,and more importantly FIGHT with a bunch of blokes who can help and genuinely make you feel part of an on line Squadron then look no further than http://www.tangmerepilots.co.uk/frames/index.htm

Hi Raptor

Great bunch of blokes mate.
Last nights mission
Based on.......

6 Hurricanes set of from Reims at 09:30. They were to escort 8 Battles from 88 & 218 sqns........15 miles from Vouziers, a formation of 7 Do17s were encountered by the Hurricanes, but not attacked since the squadron's task was to protect the Battles.

The Battles were ordered to attack German columns near Wiltz, which they attempted to do......7 of the 8 were shot down, 4 crash landing. At least 8 crew were killed with the others being taken prisoner. The only Battle to survive was an 88 sqn machine which force landed at Vassincourt, badly damaged. At least 1 of the Battles fell victim to 109s of I/JG27.

Tom's mission was based on the following action....

' 73 sqn dispatched a section of 3 Hurricanes at 14.35, these meeting a formation of 30 He111s of II/KG53 plus escort of Me110s from I/ZG2 near Mourmelon. The trio were quickly joined by another 7 (from 73), together with others from 501 sqn from Betheniville. 5 of the raiders were claimed as 'pretty certain' by 73 sqn pilots, inc Cobber Kain who claimed a 110. 3 further escorting fighters were clamed by Ginger Paul, Fanny Orton & Lionel Pilkington. One Hurricane (P/O Aubrey McFadden) was hit by cannon shells & force-landed.

501, led by F/O Malfoy claimed 2 He111s & 2 Me110s shot down

Historically, 17 Squadron were bounced just as they split to patrol in flight strength. They were bounced by a superior number of Bf109s from about 3 - 4,000ft higher up. After a short and nasty fight 2 or 3 Bf109s and 1 x He126 were shot down, and 5 Hurricanes were lost.
