Flying this plane for the first time today. I have experience with the Jet Era planes but I have some questions about the F-4, since I have not seen a Guide for it nor much info in the readme.

1. I'm familiar with the AIM-9D because I've used it in the Jet Era. It's a heatseeking missile. I want to know about the AIM-7E, which is radar guided (in real life). How is it modeled in IL-2? How do you designate and lock a target? What are the launch parameters? Basically, how does the AIM-7E work (in IL-2) and what are the procedures to arm, lock, fire and shoot down an enemy plane?

2. I see that the ordnance includes QRC-160, which is a radar jamming pod (in real life). How do these pods work in IL-2? I also noticed that some loadouts have 2 pods. What is the reasoning behind this? Are two pods somehow more efficient than one?

Sorry in advance if there is a Guide somewhere that answers all these questions, but I have not seen one around. I'm used to reading through the excellent Jet Era Guide, which covers just about everything one needs to know about flying those particular jets.

Hello, Aviar.

about 1.
AIM-7E is programmed as semi-active rader homing , in my memory.
That code was done before my touching.
Maybe AIM-7E engages full-automatic to the nearest enemy.
We don't have to do any to set the enemy as a target or something else now.

about 2.
QRC-160 doesn't work any as ECM. Only visual, now.
In the future, if we can, ECM and chaff will work against rader homings totally , but I can't promise it.
