Make sure you have downloaded the following:
1) A installed copy of 7Zip, or alternative Unzipping app of your choice: http://www.7-zip.org/
2) The latest SAS Modactivator for Clean Installs: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/board,176.0.htmlWhat you need to already have:
3) A Working Installation of IL2 1946 patched to the latest version required by your modactivator http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,8528.0.html
TIP: It is advisable to do this mod thing on a fresh install, but it is even better to also make a copy of your entire IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder. Keep one for mods and the other as a clean install. Read about having multiple copies of IL2 here:http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,19.0.html
Don’t worry, you can have as many instances of IL2 on your computer as you like.MODDING IT:
To make your game capable of seeing and using modded additions, you will need to install an SAS Modactivator
Follow the instructions in its thread to install it, and read all the readme’s included.
Then immediately Download and install our latest Buttons File
You are now ready to go into the SAS forums and find the planes, sounds, effects, reskins, cockpits and much much more and add it to your game.
