Two Italian Workhorses : SM 81 and Ca133
« on: April 01, 2011, 03:15:52 PM »

Here are a couple of ugly ducks that I love. They were both in service well pre WW2 , served in Ethiopia, the Spanish Civil War, WW2, and afterwards. Both were bombers, and as their technical merits waned in the face of more capable aircraft their role diminished to transport, but despite long service lives they soldiered on...

well slap my ass sideways... ???

Bang! right on the Money... Bullseye.
I never thought spending hours behind the books could ever help me, but this time... 8)

 :)

Back to the Pipistrello... "Bat" in English IIRC.

always asked myself if, on the bomber variant with the Bombsight below the Centerline engine, the oil leaks could eventually obscure your sight in flight, despite the Mechs taking good care of the Glass...?

Okay Hundertzehn,

You caught me with my pants down -  :o, I was frantically trying to get the thread posted while my neices needed their dinner made. Consequently, wrong photo posted - the one I had originally selected, but rejected due to size has now replaced my errant image.

The wrong one is also an interesting plane, though less important historically :

The Pipistrello can be a great addition to SCW, maybe one day...

Pipistrello would be awesome for SCW. Apparently could be an easy francken between Ju-52 and SM-79, don't you think?

The wing plan view of the .82 reminds me more of a horizontaly scale increased version of the Bf109 F+ shape & proportions (minus radiators details/cut outs)....
