This MOD requires a 4.101m installation and the latest SAS button in order to work.
Many thanks to SAS~Anto, SAS~Storebror, SaS~JackS, Harpia Mafra and Birdman: it has been a neat experience to work with experts like you ;)
And obviously many thanks to the SAS and CirX!

This plane is so full of features that SAS~Anto implemented that you will be pleasently surprised in discovering them!!

FOR REFERENCE (by SaS~JackS):

The entry airspeed for:
-rolling manuvers ( aileron roll, barrel roll, pitch out for landing): 250KIAS
-vertical maneuvers ( loops cuban 8s, cloverleafs): 350 KIAS
Airstart attempts: one
Minimum altitude for a controlled ejection : 10,000 feet
Minimum altitude for an emergency ejection: 500 feet

70% CTD. 4.10.1, ModAct 3.2, Just installed the latest buttons. Any ideas?
Never mind. Buy me books, send me to school and I still can't read.
Put the "Lockheed T-33" folder in my SAS folder, then realised it should be the "T-33 folder"

BTW, great oxygen masks for the crew. Question: when the canopy closes, the "rear" crew member's mask goes on but no so for the "front" crewman, (don't know which one would be the student and which would be the instructor), his dosen't appear until around 10,000ft. Anyone know if there might be a fix for this. Once again, swell job and thanx!

Actually, I think the (front is student back is instructor) instructor shouldn't have it either until 10,000 ft. You don't see pilots wearing oxygen masks on the ground often, do ya...

I don't know, seems to me I've seen some wearing their mask on the ground, not sure though. Maybe someone has some pictures lying around.
Title: Re: Lockheed T-33
Post by: SAS~Anto on August 08, 2011, 08:44:27 PM
Just a little screwup with the code causing that mask bug. I watched some videos of F-86D pilots during a scramble drill and in general, mask goes on whilst on the ground. The mask contains the microphone so makes sense it goes on BUT no doubt some pilots don't like wearing it unless they need to. JackS probably can answer this better but I believe oxygen starts getting delivered automatically when above 10,000ft.

This bug will be fixed when Crazyflak releases the updated F-80 pack :)

If it's a problem i can remove it. Thought it was kinda more realistic this way. Obviously when i say "if it's a problem" i mean it for the community in general, not only for you. Don't take that as an offence, but i don't make mods on request...usually.

Anto is again spot on. We had the mask attached as soon as the engine was started and removed after engine shutdown. Prevented JP-4 fumes plus the mask check was one of the most important pre-flight checks. O2 began flowing as soon as the mask was attached. 100% O2 was supposed to help with hangover but I don't remember it being much help, not that a pilot trainee would drink at the O club with .25 drinks during happy hour.

Oh, the memories!  :)

Jack

PS also, the radio mike was inside the mask.

You can install it on UP3 with latest SAS buttons BUT it will break online compatibility. Hopefully will be added in a future patch.

Follow the same way as with SAS Modact, just make the changes in #UP# folder instead of #SAS. You'll need the lastest buttons version.

I have it in UP3 and works like a charm.

I have the last button and the last diffFm

Please read the tutorials. CirX spent many hours creating them and they explaining everything you need. For UP3, install in the #UP3 directory instead of MODS
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1353.0.html

May I add? UP3 is designed purely for online play and really you shouldn't be fiddling/adding mods to it unless you know what you are doing. By doing so, you are breaking online compatibility and due to some of the check features in it, you can very easily screw up your install. If you are interested in modding you install heavily and customizing for offline play, you should instead opt for the Dark Blue World pack available here at SAS.

Thank you for sharing this incredible aircraft! I'm having tons of fun flying it, even spent some time creating this skin - the 1954 N416X Canadair T33-MK3. It  was a much harder job than I expected - "tracing" the mapping and finding out that the tanks are separated from the skin... Anyway thanks to everyone involved.

Nice to see a very well used throughout the world jet rainer come in to play.  :D ;) :)

Graduallu getting use to it both front and back seats he he.

Looking forward to some Nicaraguan, El Salvador and Honduran skins as T-33 were used quite extensively in Central America.

Any way awesome aircraft Red Fox   ;D :D ;)

Thanks again for all the work  ;D :D

As said before, such a great plane you brought us :D
I just wanned to report somelittle bugs, the first one is that in the front cockpit there is no canopy, when closing the canopy the landscape trough it still the same color, when it should get darker, the second one is that the front pilot is to close to the panel, it sould be a little bit distant from it, some pics:

There definitely is a canopy. Just the texture is very transparent and not causing discolouration of the view like most canopies in IL-2 do. And the pilot position looks pretty much identical to the pictures you posted.

But, how could it be that, if in the back seat you note the color of the plexiglas, but not in the front seat.
About the pilot, maybe its me, but, the pilot kind of scrached to the panel.
Anyway GREAT WORK :D
Keep it up ;)

Its just a texture, it can be replaced ;) Since Il-2 doesn't have self shadowing or reflections in cockpits, a texture representing that was chosen (hence it appears light at front, dark at back). The canopy is still there.

No, i don't think there is any plan for making this plane available for 4.09 (at least not here). It would imply some changes to the java code, which is a lot of complicated work that i'm not able to do and that luckily Anto and Storebror, two of the best experts in java, have done, but most of all that's not the path we are walking in general. For what i see, the SAS policy is to stay together with the original development of the game, so it would be not practical to provide, and most of all to support, different versions of the same plane for different patch of Il-2. Sorry.

After changing the code, the 409 version works fine ... except certain weapons.
But there is work (adding the MGunDump,...).
If Red_Fox90 allows, try converting the complete ... when the 410 version will be stabilized.

Windows does a good job with the search. Just type "air" and it should appear. If you can't search, the air.ini is always located in:

I have an strange problem with this T-33. I've installed it in DBW and works fine in QMB, I can land, stop engine and restart again every time I want, but if I try to make a missión with the FMB putting the plane on a base to take off, the engine refuse to start, I press the key and I only see the "Engine Off" message...

This happens either in a single player missión or cooperative one. If I make a dogfight mission with the plane on the list of the Homebase, when I select it, I start on the air, but the engine works fine again.

I've tried it in UP RC4, and the same is happening. Any idea to solve this issue?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Edit: I only tried it in DBW.

How to install an aircraft (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1353.0.htm)

First, download this (https://www.sas1946.com/downloads/essentialsas/buttons/SAS_BUTTONS_v9.1.7z).
It goes in:
IL-2 1946\#UP#\STD\gui\game
Then place the mod in the #UP# folder. DO NOT CREATE IT. Unzip it from "#UP#_sample_folder" included in the UP3 download.
Then copy the line from the readme to the air.ini. It can be found here:
IL-2 1946\#UP#\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects
Now you are ready to fly!
If you get a CTD while loading, look at this (https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,22.0.html).

With Ultrapack 3RC you have a file called #UP#SampleFolder.rar, extract it to IL-2 main
folder and here is where you must install this T-33 and all other mods. Do not touch
anything in jsgmemods folder, unless you know what are you doing.

SAS Buttons contains all the flight models for mod aircraft, unless it is in DiffFM or included with the mod itself.
You probably figured this out, but to play UP3 with the #UP# folder you select Ultrapack 3 in the selector. To use #SAS you select SAS Modact 3. For #DBW, select Dark Blue World. For an old, pre MA3.0 install with the "MODS" folder select Classic Mod Game.

Don't think this one requires DiffFM. I'm sure the FM got added to buttons. Just make sure you have the latest set and it should work in DBW and ModAct. Should also work with UP3 but I don't recommend adding anything to it (will break online compatibility).

Most mods don't go into JSGME. Usually you just put them in your mods folder, #SAS, #UP#, #DBW, Files, or MODS.
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1353.0.html
All aircraft go into your mods folder. Then you have to add the air.ini line.

Open the folder. If there's another folder in it - one of the mods folders - it goes in JSGME.

Hello. Thanks for the great model.
I've repainted. But the place marked at SS is different from the colors I want.
Do you have any plans to add a further variation of this type available?

Hi Kazudayo!

Unfortunately there was no space left on the skin for mapping the new tanks, so i had to make a separate .tga file. If you want to change the colors of the tanks just go to your MODS folder then \Lockheed T-33\T-33\3do\plane\Textures: right here, there is a .tga file called "Tanks.tga" on which the new tanks are mapped.
And your english is almost better than mine, so don't worry ;)

I don't think so. I tried it with a buddy in an online coop mission but it didn't want to let him enter my plane and vice versa. Maybe it's possible and it's just me doing something wrong. Whould like to know what exactly and if it is possible at all.

That won't work, since in IL-2 online coop missions you can't have another Copilot (even not in stock aircraft), but additional gunners only.
Having a second pilot would require the game engine to handle two completely different control inputs, which in turn isn't much useful since you don't have the feedback like you'd have in real life (pushing the stick "against" the other pilot's intention).

Best regards - Mike

But there already are some planes in the game, in which you can transfer controls to other player. Zuti's MDS enabled that some time ago.

Humm, you can do it ;)
In UP3 2 pilots can fly eh same plane, but, not at the same time, te pilot flyes the plane and when he wants he can transfer the controls to the copilot ;)

Actually its not UP, its 4.10.1. So Yes you can have two persons on the same plane (as "gunners") and then via the Tab comand transfer the controle of the aircraft.

I suppose you get this in FMB; it happened to me also, and it always had to do with aircraft weapons loadouts (especially with the P51 B's); try to change the weapons loadouts in your mis. file (e.g. switch to 'default'). Here's the link to the relevant thread, I hope it will help,

On 4.11.1m + SASModAct4 + 1956JetEra etc. ,
this T-33 is too easy overheat.
When I try to "Scramble" in QMB , even about 5 seconds in throttle 60% , "Engine Overheat" HUT message is shown.
I set throttle 100% and begin taking-off , but the engine breaks at about 100km/h and stops.
I can't take-off.

F-80 pack are also easy overheat , but they are less than T-33 and I can take-off before the engine breaking.

On 4.11.1m , engines become easy to overheat that 4.10.1m.
This T-33 problems is caused by that change ( I think ).
We may avoid this overheat in changing some flightmodel parameters.
I want to fly on this beautiful bird in 4.11.1m.

Testing the 409 over 412 is a no go!

I can't even take off without overheating and immediately damage the engine!

Performance are lower than expected....same as for L-39 but at least it don't overheat....I bet that all jets need a touch due the new drag introduced into 412....

TESPEED value seems to be to high (0.1) with ModAct 5.2x buttons (Same pb with P80)

Comparing with the engine used by the P80A in TD 4.12.1:
The GeneralElectricI-40 engine used by P80A has the same temperature settings but has a value of only 0.02 for TESPEED.

Hello everyone, I bisnogno a little help. I'm working on some skins for this aircraft, but I'm stuck on one point, namely the reservoirs wing aircraft, are not mapped in the template, and so everything is right, I find that the TGA files rigiarda tanks and I work, I go to replace the file Tanks, TGA original with what is needed for the skin to me, but nothing happens, the aircraft is returned to me always the default file. I also tried to do the operation with other TGA files, other authors Skins for this aircraft but I always got the same result, someone can explain to me if these files may or may not be replaced?  :(

Excuse my English Googleliano  :D

I do not know the details but the problem may be that when you edit the tga it becomes bigger (ex: 3074kb instead of 3073), if that is what happens to you, you must save the TGA with another graphics program, I usually work in PSP save and re except with GIMP.

GIO.

Giotto Hello ;) , and thank you for your prompt reply. The problem is not the size of the file size remains the original, but for a totally unknown reason will not play in the game, this happens to me also with other files of the tanks exclusively on this model, now I just can not understand, the program I use is "Corel photo paint" and so far I have found myself well, because I tried to use Adobe photo paint but my PC is quite dated if not almost primitive. Should I adjust the tanks on this and other skins for this model!

Hi Stefano!

At first i thought it wasn't possible but indeed, you're right. I've checked just now and, i don't know why, but even if you change the Tanks TGA in the textures folder the original TGA keeps on persisting ???

And i don't remember having this issue when i first released this mod.

So, the only way i've been able to change their skin is this:

-open the T-33 folder
-go to 3do/plane/T-33
-find the file named Tanks (it's a MAT file, check the extension) and open it
-You'll find something like this:

Code: [Select]
[ClassInfo]
  ClassName TMaterial
[General]
  tfDoubleSide 0
  tfShouldSort 0
  tfDropShadow 0
  tfGameTimer 1
[LightParams]
  Ambient 1.0
  Diffuse 1.0
  Specular 0.4
  SpecularPow 4
  Shine 0.0
[Layer0]
  TextureName ..\Textures\Tanks.tga

-Change it to:

Code: [Select]
[ClassInfo]
  ClassName TMaterial
[General]
  tfDoubleSide 0
  tfShouldSort 0
  tfDropShadow 0
  tfGameTimer 1
[LightParams]
  Ambient 1.0
  Diffuse 1.0
  Specular 0.4
  SpecularPow 4
  Shine 0.0
[Layer0]
  TextureName Tanks.tga

-Save
-Put your modified Tanks TGA in 3do/plane/T-33
-Launch the game

[Ciao Stefano!

-vai in 3do/plane/T-33

Code: [Select]
[ClassInfo]
  ClassName TMaterial
[General]
  tfDoubleSide 0
  tfShouldSort 0
  tfDropShadow 0
  tfGameTimer 1
[LightParams]
  Ambient 1.0
  Diffuse 1.0
  Specular 0.4
  SpecularPow 4
  Shine 0.0
[Layer0]
TextureName ..\Textures\Tanks.tga

-Cambialo in:

Code: [Select]
[ClassInfo]
  ClassName TMaterial
[General]
  tfDoubleSide 0
  tfShouldSort 0
  tfDropShadow 0
  tfGameTimer 1
[LightParams]
  Ambient 1.0
  Diffuse 1.0
  Specular 0.4
  SpecularPow 4
  Shine 0.0
[Layer0]
TextureName Tanks.tga

-Salva
-Metti il tuo file Tanks TGA modificato in 3do/plane/T-33

Red_FOx90 Hello and thank you for your explanation. I did all the steps that you wrote in the post but without the expected results, in fact the thing that I was editing the file string MAT, is that the aircraft does not appear for any reason in its slot, while restoring the original string me it works again but I always default tanks of the aircraft. Then I also did the operation that has been subjected to Malone, a check for possible conflicts of folders but nothing, there is no other Mods folder, there are file's "TANKS" they can go to the conflict. This remains a mystery, I hope to find a way out of this little problem.  :(

Thanks again guys availability.  ;)

https://www.mediafire.com/view/0fz8cca0f1j8obm/Tanks.mat (https://www.mediafire.com/view/0fz8cca0f1j8obm/Tanks.mat)

Then put the TGA in the same folder in which the MAT file is present (T-33/3do/plane/T-33).

Red, nothing to do, I did as you told me, but nothing is the same as the response that I've mentioned a few posts ago, basically I replaced the MAT-file with what you've posted, and put the file "TGA-tANKS "in the same folder but the aircraft does not appear in the slot, then I did something else I rearranged everything as default and the aircraft appears, but with tanks defaults, then I did another test and still not believe it I deleted the whole file 'TGA-TANKS "from his folder and the aircraft appears to me the same with reservoirs default, this is a mystery ...

 :(

Tested in 4122+5.30 and got it working without overheating!

How did you fix the overheating, please ?
I use this plane in TFM 412 , and it is overheating on the runway when starting...
