Desert House Pack
« on: September 05, 2010, 01:01:24 PM »

Here is a small pack of repainted houses into desert houses. This set will be necessary for Redko's upcoming retextured desert maps like MTO, Desert online etc.

Note 1: As these objects do have their own entries in the static.ini it won't overwrite the existing ones but it is a complete new set of houses.

Note 2: If you have installed Boomers Object Mods for 4.10 (http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12257.0.html) then there is no need to install my DH Pack.
Because it is included in his Object Mods Pack.

Install instruction:

When extracted drop the Desert House Pack folder into IL2\Mods
The new entries for the static.ini goes into IL2\Mods\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects\static (backup your static.ini first, just in case!)

Install instruction for HSFX:

When extracted search for the folder DesertHouses (Desert House Pack\3do\Buildings) and drop it into IL2\Files\3do\Buildings
The new entries for the static.ini goes into Files\com\maddox\il2\objects\static (backup your static.ini first, just in case!)

Actually I don't know why some objects do have shadows and others don't have. For instance the mosque and minaret and some other ones have shadows.
It is not just related to my repaints but even Dlvpier's extracted Egypt objects or Canonuk's objects don't have shadows. Never realised it.  :-[
Maybe an expert can shine a light on this?

<------ Not an expert :)

Shadows for static object (houses etc) are created by a particular part of the mesh. Usually just an untextured box that encompases the object., it is usually linked to the other parts of the mesh ie: LOD0/1/2 and collision and then exported from the 3d program (Max/Gmax) for use in the game.

If the object does not display a shadow when others do, it is likely these objects do not have the required parts to do so.

Only fix is to import the objects into a 3d proggy add shadows etc and re-export.

Cheers, Neil :)

Thanks for the quick reply. Theoretically I understand it but don't have any experience in 3D programs.
I think we have to live with it.
