303 tracers (guns) synchronised

My 303 tracers seemed to be sychronised (appearing in groups of four or six).

In earlier installs of the game the tracers were not syncronised and appeared as a stream.
What file controlls this, and where can I find it, can I swap the version of the file from the earlier install ?

4.09m had de-synchronized tracers, perhaps it's the modact 1.1, with which I am unfamiliar.
