Does anyone know why when I put this plane on autopilot, whenever it gets to the waypoint before LANDING it says the airplane is damaged and then the engines go off? I tried this in several maps with large bodies of water and water only maps... just wondering if I have a glitch on my install... I have UP 2.1 and I add mods manually through JSGME. It takes off and flies fine.
i use it in 2.01 and i've never heard or seen a damage report from the plane or AI unless it got hit by AAA fire or the ground/mountain crash. i just retested and again did not hear or see any hit sign. as to the cutting off engine before landing... that is normal
IF you are trying to land on the water where there is
NOT a certified water landing area, ie like in the open sea or something. if your mission way-points are taking you back to a certified water take-off/landing area, then the AI will fly to that water base, ask permission to land (just like on a land airport) then when it gets permission it will drop altitude, reduce throttle...and land properly on the water way, cutting off its engine 'after' it taxies to the proper full stop area.
NOTE: if you try to get the AI to land on the open ocean where there is NOT a sea plane base... it does not know what to do, so it searches for the largest body of open water near it, cuts its engine and glides to a landing in the water. that is the way it is 'supposed' to do when not near a sea plane base. otherwise, it would either fly around until run out of gas and crash, OR, it would try and glide/land at the closest LAND BASE and blow up as soon as it touched the runway. that's the game code and how its written.
i tried/tested this repeatedly after i saw your post and that's how it did every time i tried it. ---so if you're having some strange problem i don't know what to tell you since my game will not duplicate what you said. i don't know if adding mods thru JSGME has anything to do with it or not... my Mods are actually made to do the simple 'manual' install... ie, dropping the plane folder into your MODS folder, putting the proper entry into the STD/air.ini file (that's in the MODS folder.) simple as pie, and only takes a few seconds to do. perhaps doing it thru JSGME is putting something in the wrong place...so try it the manual way and see if it helps. i don't know what else to tell you. let me know if you find out anything.
