Piper J3 Cubs - Own Slots

Piper J3 Cub

The Piper J-3 Cub is an American light aircraft that was built between 1937 and 1947 by Piper Aircraft. The aircraft has a simple, lightweight design which gives it good low speed handling properties and short field performance. The Cub is one of the best known light aircraft of all time. The Cub's simplicity, affordability and popularity — as well as its large production numbers, with nearly 20,000 built in the United States — invokes comparisons to the Ford Model T automobile.

The Cub was originally intended as a trainer, and saw great popularity in this role and as a general aviation aircraft. Due to its performance, it was well suited a variety of military uses such as reconnaissance, liaison and ground control, and was produced in large numbers during the Second World War as the L-4 Grasshopper. Large numbers of Cubs are still flying today. Notably Cubs are highly prized as bush aircraft.

The Cub is a high-wing strut-braced monoplane with a large area rectangular wing. It is powered by an air-cooled piston engine driving a fixed pitch propeller. Its fuselage is a welded steel frame covered in fabric, seating two people in tandem.

The aircraft's standard chrome yellow paint has come to be known as "Cub Yellow" or "Lock Haven Yellow" Wikipedia

Another fun flyer pack for everyone that is based on RealDarkos Piper Pa-18 Super Cub which is based on the original Flakiten Stinson with Beebop skins and Skipper cockpit, with a new 3d by Bison_M and slot from Skvorez. Thanks to all involved for making these possible. ;)

The original Mod is available here https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,44484.0.html

The Piper Cubs now have their own slots and a new cockpit. I've also managed to get the float version working thanks to the L-5 float versions FM ( which unfortunately still has the tendency to shake violently at times). :(

Being as this is the first actual cockpit I've ever made the gauges and other items may not perform as well as expected but it's a start for me.:)

Thanks again all and you're very welcome, :)

Max and dona it'll be nice having you both render up some new skins for these cubbies. Can hardly wait.  ;D

Glad you like it Bison_M and thank you for your original. Couldn't have done these without it and I have no plans on stopping anytime soon. ;)

That's an interesting article Mopat and definitely an idea to give the cub some teeth. We already have that skin so if one of the coders is willing to do the Java I'd do up the tubes.

Cheers and thanks again ,

Great addition for this sim! Thanks!
Now we need a Grasshopper skin to use it as artillery spotter.

Hi Edlor, what a sweet plane, thanks. How do I get the version on your first picture? No matter what I install; J-3 Piper Cub or J-3 Piper Cub Tundra, I'll get the large tundra wheels.

Hi henkypenky,

Thanks and you're very welcome. :)

Without knowing which game version you're using it's hard to say for sure but by the sounds of it the Super Cub B may be loading before this one.

Try this and see if it works. Go into your air.ini file and remove the two forward slashes in front of this entry  PA18    air.PA18           usa01 SUMMER and see if that works.

If not I'd need to know more about your game version to help you better.

Cheers,

Edlor
