« on: August 25, 2009, 05:47:57 AM »

So here they finally are, all three Hawks are new slots with their own unique flight model including opening canopies and their own 3D model slot with new default skins (by Mangas)!

Well done gents ,may i suggest to add default desert skin for A3 used in africa by Vichy, there is only summer, and it looks bad on desert maps, for example something like this one:

i could sent unmarked version to Karaya to make update,of course if you are interested.

My mod and Josse's are certainly NOT the same. I've created mine completely independently from Josse, the class file names are different, the flight models are my own work, the armament is also different. Furthermore Josse modelled the Hawk75A-2 and the Mohawk IV (the british version which was slightly different to the French service A-4). My models are the French A-2, A-3 and A-4.

Thanks Karaya! ;D
Ok, jeanba, hope that answers your query.
Just to clarify for anyone else - the performance graphs on 1st page comparre the 2 different FM's.

The graphs do not compare Josse's and my flight models, they compare my 3 Hawks. One shows the A-2 vs the A-3, the other the A-3 vs the A-4. I dont have Josse's Hawks installed so I havent made any performance graphs for those...

About Josse and Karaya Hawks: type A-2, dont you think both  of them should have same performance if in fact they are exact same aircraft :D,only Karaya A-3,A-4 and Josse MohawkIV could be a little different as they were in real.

Flight Models are a very complex matter, unless all parameters are the same, you wont get the same performance out of two aircraft. I dont know what Josse based his flight models on but I based mine on what I could find about these three aircraft.

I took the P-40B flight model as basis for all my Hawks as the P-36 and P-40 were very similar, in fact the P-40 prototype was a modified P-36A equipped with an Allison engine. That way I could give it believable flight characteristics compared to the stock Hawks. For example the diving speed was greatly increased, no more disintegrating at 600km/h IAS. The center of gravity also now changes with AoA and when retracting/lowering the landing gear.

I similarly crafted the engines to the point where I could achieve officially published topspeeds (480, 501, 518km/h respectively) at altitude.

They looks great!

Now, I would like to apologize in advance for one question that for more skilled computer and Il2 experts may sound dumb...

If I install Karaya's Hawks, will they conflict with Josse's ones?

I have UP2.01 and 4.09m (still)...

Thank you
