Würzburg Riese Radar Station
« on: January 07, 2017, 12:39:23 AM »

Good day to all the Il2-1946 Community and to all my SAS friends.

Finally after a lot of effort and learning, I successfully finished the work on the Würzburg Riese radar station.

The model and the textures were created following the guidelines given by the Il-2 Modeling Bible for this kind of object, it contains the Live and the Dead versions of the object along with its respective LOD's, shadows and textures.

The following is the poly count for all the LODs:

LOD0 Live= 966 Polys, 2540 Triangles, 1341 Vertices
LOD1 Live= 436 Polys, 874 Triangles, 1052 Vertices
LOD2 Live= 220 Polys, 463 Tirangles, 679 Vertices

LOD0 Dead= 986 Polys, 2558 Triangles, 1671 Vertices
LOD1 Dead= 469 Polys, 991 Triangles, 1238 Vertices
LOD2 Dead= 237 Polys, 558 Tirangles, 810 Vertices

Altough I learned a myriad of things about photoshop and gimp working in this small project, I consider that the textures don't do justice to the model, with that in mind the templates for a repaint are included in the file. (I'm looking at you max_thehitman ;D).

Here is a picture of the dead version:

You can download It here:

Please enjoy it as much as you can!

And the next step is:
Radar operator's "cockpit" for guiding your mates to targets in coop missions when map icons are off...
Sorry, just dreaming, Xmas is not yet over.  :D
