Missing controls after installing DBW ?
« on: June 30, 2016, 04:05:12 AM »

Hello,

After spending some time installing the latest (1.71) DBW on game version 4.101, I've come across a very odd issue.
When I finished installing, I pasted my "Users" folder from another install to avoid remapping all my controls. However, a number of controls (e.g. the radio beacon controls, or the mixture axis under "HOTAS") were now missing from the controls list in-game.

I tried resetting the controls to default, along with copying the "Users" folder from a fresh, unmodded 4.101 install, but I cannot seem to make those controls return, even though they are present in the "settings.ini" file.

Any idea of what might be causing this problem ?

Hello EngineerFalcon,

in your "Users" folder you have a folder called "0".

Copy from your old saved settings (from folder "0"):

campaigns.ini, QMB.ini, and the settings.ini...

and copy these in your new Users\ 0 folder.

Good luck and best regards,

Gerhard  :)

Thanks for your answer !

Unfortunately, it seems that I do not have a "0" folder in that fresh install.

I don't know if it helps, but I also do not have a QMB.ini and campaigns.ini in my DBW "0" folder.
Very confused...  :-|

Is the folder place of your IL-2 install .... under C:\Program Files (x86)\ ?

If so.... your REAL setting files are redirected to your Virtual Store user folder.....

...or try this:

Make a new folder in your "Users" folder and rename the new folder to 0 (0=zero, not O like Opera).

Now copy your saved "settings.ini" in this new renamed folder and try it again.

Good luck.

My install isn't in C:\. I checked anyways, but only my CloD controls are stored there.

That's the problem - I don't have a 0 folder in my clean install though I have one in my modded install.

Are you talking about IL-2 Cliffs of Dover ?
CloD was a newer game software and considering Windows Vista & laters' UAC function. Even CloD is installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\ , its setting files are written out not there.... but just under User game folder ....
So, CloD's behavior and 1946's behavior are different about UAC from the first.
