Agracier,
Please, I would like to know about the French Morocco map (that for Operation Torch) and the one depicting Tangier protectorate, wich have a piece of French Morocco in it, and a piece of Algeria...
Are they still far from complete? Are they usable? Working airfields? Populations?
I'm not hurrying you up, only curiosity...

Thank you :)

Since January I haven´t done any work on any maps anymore. So they are sill as they were the last time anything was posted about them.

First I have a book contract that I have to honor by the end of autumn this year (and it´s more work than I thought at first ... ha ha).

But mainly, and this is a bt sad, but ever since 4.10 was released i have not played a game as it should be played, nor have time for anything but trying, and I stress ´trying´ to keep up with all the changes. 4.10, 4.101, UP 3.0 (with/without diffFM) and now DBW (which I still don´t understand what it does).

Every change might be for the better, but since all require new installs and cannot be used as add-ons, I´ve spent more time trying to catch up than doing anything else in Il-2. And even so, there are so many old 4.09 planes that can´t be used in the newer versions of the game.

It takes about a month to set up a good version of Il-2 with all extra new planes. Testing each takes long since bulk installs are only inviting trouble.

So for the moment I´ve about given up. I hope that soon there will be a definitive version of the game, maybe one that will allow subsequent add-ons of newer versions instead of requiring total new installs. I just can´t spend all the time needed to try and stay up to date and still be missing so many new modded planes ...

Roger that, Agracier... I understand you very well!

This is why I (as a mostly offliner player) still stick with the old good and reliable 4.09m and UP 2.01 !!

At least all maps, even those done for later versions of the game or UP3 are still installable on it with some very little tweaking, like I did for Volperossa's betamap of the Mediterranean War over Italy that is still in the works.

Please don't give up, I know RL is not always an easygoing matter...

Best wishes for your book!

BTW, if you don't mind, I would really like to get my hands on the maps I mentioned, to use them for that project I'm working on, if you remember, based on the book I'm writing myself..(something in common we share, this passion for writing, LOL).

There is no problem if the maps are not complete and lacking airfields. I can make some working airfields using the FMB and the objects "runways" to suffice for my purposes, while awaiting the moment you'll have time to complete the maps, so please don't worry.

Cheers and please don't go beyond your "structural limits", my Friend. Take care :)

Agracier, with Sidi Ifni you and Uufflakke contributed one of my absolute favourite maps which runs now in
all my 4.09 and my DBW install.
Thanks (and of course for all other maps)!

For others, I will have to wait until I return home in September.

That Casablanca map is pretty much fun, tested it at late afternoon. Okey, it needs some airfields etc, but
for a quick mission it's good enough.

Sort of the less hilly brother of Ifni. :)

Thank you very much, Agracier!

Looks very beautiful. When complete it will be one of the best maps to play with.

BTW, I have a very accurate and detailed map of Casablanca as it was in 1942. Let me know if you need it.

Cheers

Agracier, as the image is really too big to upload it on existing sites like ImageShack or others, I will have to send it directly to you by E-mail.

Please PM me your email address so I can send it to you.

Cheers

Col. King,

I like this map too. There are two well done river valleys north of Casablanca and some great rugged terrian inland. Also, it fills a historical gap in the collection of IL-2 maps.

You have mentioned adding airfields to the Casablanca Map. If you need some help populating this map, I can help you with at least some of it. All you have to do is provide me with a list of 10 locations you would like populated. If you have specific some ideas about what you would like to see, include them with your list.

I noticed that a street pattern has been included at the Casablanca location. It looks very appropriate for that part of the world and once populated, it will look great. Are you planning to add any such street patterns at other village and town locations? If so, that, in my opinion, would be a real plus for this map.

Cheers,

Riptide
