I'm more than happy to present the first seaplane fighter for Il2, a dream that started long ago after watching a anime film called Porco Rosso. Now the plane is a reality and I'm offering here so you guys can enjoy it. The plane is based on the default MBR-2 reduced in size so looks more like a fighter, Slow made corrections into the 3d holes the gunners have left, and then Metatron created the wonderful default skin. The plane was completed by Beowolff that made it the slot, fm, new cockpit, and 3d fine details like rounded engine, I can't be grateful enough to this guys, specially Beowolff for his patience and skills.
I want to say thanks to SAS guys too, for offering me the space to post this mods and for this space to all Il2 fans.

Now about the plane. FM is realistic, but this is not a real plane, is a 'for fun' fantasy plane and not a real WW2 fighter. That want to say that you can enjoy doing what he does best, fighting above the waves and shooting down enemy planes. The Savoia carry 2 Breda Safat 12.7MG and can carry two bombs too. It have a G50 fighter cockpit that will let you feel the splashes on your face So please take this plane as it is, I made this one cause I think it will be fun to fly, and hope someone will enjoy.
About the install, Diff_FM is required to fly it. It was tested in UP2.00 and SAS_ModAct, but has 'not' been tested in 'other' mod installs.

Remember to add the skin folder on your Paintschemes folder, MBR2 skins should work more or less, but new skins will be desirable. Specially some Reggia Aeronautica ones.And enjoy. Some feedback will be interesting. Thanks

It is lovely detail those machine guns barels showing up in the frontal part.

Great stuff! Looking at the model, i've been thinking it would look great with a 'open cockpit' windscreen, from a U2 for example, don't know how easy that would be though.

I know this is a bit off-topic, but what is that ship on one of the screenshots? It looks very detailed, far different from the gray blocks 'o ships in my Il-2 install... is it a mod?

Just an advice about a little bug: 3D model works for all countries except for default Italy.
This bug can be easily solved duplicating the 3do/plane/S_21(Multi1) folder and renaming the obtained new one 3do/plane/S_21(It).

EDIT: Found another little bug: horizontal elevator working is reversed (the plane flies well, I'm referring only to 3D animation). But for this I don't have solution, sorry!

quit bug hunting and just fly the hell out of the sweet, little plane!     every model has some small faults...  and hey, if you're flying, you don't have time for looking!

 

someone asked about performance:  it's somewhere on a par with Gloster Glads/CR42's...but not exactly due to its seaplane design which does detract from it.  however being a seaplane has its own advantages, no?  after all, if the Glad get's shot up over water (where this plane will mostly be operating) where is 'it' gonna' land?  lol!

it will hold its own with Gladiators though...  during testing i tangled with several and though hit a few times, i was never actually shot down (though i did run into a mountainside once!)  and that shows fairly close performance as i am far from a great pilot.  takeoff's and landings are a breeze, though care must be taken with throttle useage---this bird is light and with a fairly powerful engine and if you firewall the throttle she will LEAP forward both in the water and the air!  if not careful, this can cause problems.  lol.

 

i'd really love to see some nice (1930's) skins for this sweet, small bird.  i hope some nice skinner will pick this up and do some that will do justice for her.

Glad you guys are enjoying it! This bird is a little beast as Beowolff just explained so be careful specially when taking off. The plane is designed to compete against Gladiators, Cr-42, I153 and planes like that. I can shoot down glads but being hit in return so be careful
Hope someone will make cool skins for it soon. I think it really deserves it, also If Beowolff request some skins you guys must please him

I have UP2.01 and the SAS button 5.3.7z, but when I run IL2, I have a crash at 60%  ......... why ? What is the problem ?  :'(
