I meant the maps I never or rarely find mentioned or where I rarely saw a campaing or some missions made for it like Benghalli, Malvinas, Santa-Cruz, Kwajalein, Hankow, Mozambik, Eastafrica, Djibouti etc... (but maybe I'm wrong andf there are Zillions of missions out there ... :D)

But thats plans  ::)

The next will be: your Japan repaint, with this I'm sure, I love this map! On your Okinawa map I tried the missions I made for our first QMB 2.0 pack, they are OK, but maybe I will rework them a little bit. And, when you release new ones, be sure that I will make some QMB missions for them mate.  ;)

-G-

Ok understood sir.  ;)

This is a good idea. There is many good maps representing so many time and work for map makers but without a real effort from mission/campain bilders to provide good material for that. I recognized some Agracier's maps in those you mentioned. I'm fan but his map hurge to be provided with good missions.

Thanks for the efforts !

For Kyushu please go on. This repaint, and Iwo, was made to take advantage of Phil_k campains. But there is many nice places in Kyushu which are waiting for more good missions and you are welcome. There is some old lava rivers on the north of the map, i could be fun to have dogfights over it.

I have another version of Kyushu under way, i added some missing islands, some lakes (there a big one in the south missing on the stock map). And i would like to add more colours, i find the map too green. There will be also new paddies with tree textures...you know like The Channel map.

So please go on. We need missions for all those lost maps...hahahahah  ;D

Hey Redko, when you're ready to start on Guam and the Marianas I will send you what i have on them - WWII maps of the Japanese airfields, and a few black and white aerials showing how they looked at the time.  Very different than they look now - the Japanese had cultivated nearly every portion of the northern marianas for sugar growing, and Guam was mostly undeveloped.

Great !

This is welcome too. My big problem is time. Since i never know what the futur will be i tend to work very quickly which makes me commit some mistakes. There is most of time a lack of historical accuracy on my repaints.

All the people posting datas, pics or whatever it is make me save many time.

If you have things for Kyushu, Okinawa, Palau, Marianas, Chichi please post, all this is most than welcome. I have also projects for other parts of the world, like Italy, but this will be for further days.

What do mean by "forgotten" maps? I'm plainnig some repaints for Chici and Guam too.

Will you be doing Saipan as well? I was watching an old Nikolas Cage movie last night where he was a US Marine on Saipan and it appeared very mountainous with some really steep hills, nothing like the stock map

Humm...the stock map is so bad, as all stock PTO maps of the game i don't remember to have seen hills on it  ::).
We will see. The size of the map must be enough to play with map_h..if not instead of hill you will have pyramids.

But i wan't to make this as real as possible, same method than Palau, of taking in consideration Il2 engine limitations.

I'm preparing some desert maps too. I like to play with desert textures.

Wind Talkers was filmed in Hawaii and really looks nothing like Saipan, but Saipan is mountainous.

I had started a new Marianas Map several years ago and had it at a stage that was almost ready for texturing and populating. It was 1:1 and went all the way up past Pagan in the island Chain.

The stock Marianas map is terrible and the terrain is flattened to accommodate rivers, which don't even exist on the islands!  Re-texturing the stock map and re-doing the map_c to eliminate the rivers would make a world of difference, and would be very welcome if that's all you have time for.  Plus, all the old campaigns would still work!  (I assume)

If you want to start with a more accurate and larger map, I can see if I can dig up my old work.

Yea make disapear those rivers would be very easy. Coming back to Palau, you told me once the rivers were invisible from the airs right?

Because for the release of Palau airfields i would like to solve this thing. I was thinking to make it disapear, or cover it with woods which could simulate the fact that those tiny rivers are hidden by vegetation

That's pretty much correct.  The rivers in Palau, which are far bigger rivers than in the Marianas, are mere "streams" by continental standards.  You might be able to see them from the air, but having no water at all, covered with forest, will look a lot closer to the real thing than having those huge open water rivers that IL2 provides.  And in most cases, the trees cover the rivers of Palau entirely.  Guam and the Marianas even more so.

Okey, not necessary to post every brainfart, but today I was just happy to see some quick missions threads for some of my favourite maps.

Thanks again everyone doing those.
