I made a similar post a couple years ago, and as I go to reinstall Il-2 + mods again, I'm awash with a new wave of confusion over what I should be installing, to get the most out of Il-2 singleplayer.
There seem to be several competing mods here and it's not clear to me which is the newest/most feature complete version.
I see three options:
1) The DBW 1.71 superpack stickied here (
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,21514.0.html) seems to be the latest officially released version of DBW... and yet I hear everywhere that it's outdated and has been superseded by this or that.
2) I've read that TFM 412 has superseded DBW, but I've read in other places that it is meant to supplement DBW2 (which to be knowledge isn't released)... so which is it? Does TFM 412 offer all the same content as the current DBW 1.71 superpack? Do I need to combine the two in some frankenstein installation?
3) There is some link here (
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42297.0.html) called "pre-DBW2", but seems to be DBW 1.71 that is just patched to 4.12.2, but that thread seems to link to some mod installation program and not the mod itself... so is it a utility, or a mod pack? Does it offer more content than TFM 412, or less? Is it meant to work with TFM 412? Very confused yet again.
And none of this even mentions the "Ultrapack" I've seen mentioned elsewhere. Is this an outdated modpack that DBW has superseded? Is it required by TFM 412 or this pre-DBW2 thing?
I guess if it's easier to answer, what I want to know is, simply, what should I be downloading and installing right now (January 23rd, 2015) to get the most WW2 content out of singleplayer in a stock Il-2 1946 4.12.2 steam installation?
