NEW PC and TFM?
« on: July 28, 2014, 05:03:26 AM »

Hi Guys,

Its still a way off but I'm getting a new gaming PC in feb 2015 - can I just port TFM 4.12 across to it from what will be my old drive, or do I need to reload the whole game again from DVD Disc....et al ?

Cheers

You should make a vanilla installation (DVD disc) first to install important components to your system32 directory (dlls and similar stuff). After done this you can transplant your old Il2-TFM directory to your new machine. The TFM directory does'nt need to be in your vanilla directory, and you can have several installation directories in the same machine. Vanilla only need to be installed once in a machine.

Simply copy and paste, I'm doing this from years ;)
There aren't dll, ecc in the IL2 installation

agreed. please disregard Alex840's comment about having to install from DVD to ensure dll's, etc - this is simply not the case with IL-2.
you can simply copy/paste the entire game across as OberstDan said. ;)

My apologies, i've never tried copy an Il2 directory without install it before in a new PC, and did'nt knew that it works. Disregard my early suggestion and sorry for my ignorance.
