Iwo Jima to Kanto plain Generic Beta. Japan mainland.
« on: December 09, 2012, 01:35:30 AM »

Hello all!

Here's a map covering the Pacific ocean area, from Iwo Jima in the south, to Kanto plain area in the north, including the cities of Tokyo, Yokohama and Nagoya. Map was created in conjuntion by Agracier who created the Ed maps, the map itself (including map_c, map_h and map_t) while I created the templates for autopop, worked in the load.ini and added all the other objects and airfields. Map is designed for after Iwo Jima invasion so the island is in American hands with the 3 airfields build there.

Map is kind of generic cause we don't have enough time to properly create and populate all the cities, villages and towns, but tried to be as precise and historical as possible. If anyone want to repop, retext or work in other areas of the map is totally free to do it, not even permission is needed, just give credits.

I used several textures like the ones in Chichi-Jima map,  and objects of CanonUk, kudos to them, hope is ok to use them in the map.

Hope you guys will enjoy it!!

Map is available here:

https://www.mediafire.com/?v8j00rdrvaqb63r

Just add to maps folder and add this line into all.ini

Kanto Kanto/load512.ini

Enjoy!

Very interesting map area,   several missions will appear over it  soon, I believe.
Just a 2pence:
it might be useful for guys installing this map elsewhere than in DBW1.71,
to join  the following files  into _tex folder:

land/summer/IJ_formosa_field1.tga
land/summer/IJ_formosa_field2.tga
land/Pacific/Iwo02.tga
land/Pacific/Iwo03.tga
land/Pacific/IwoBeach.tga
land/Pacific/IwoLand.tga
and possibly
water/rom_fields_Beach.tga

What scale is it??

When making Sturmovik maps, the default scale is supposed to be 1 pixel =50km. That counts as 1/1 I believe. This map however, due to the vast area covered is a reduced size. I can't remember exactly, but the scale is probably either 1 pixel = 60km or 1 pixel = 75km. In addition, the scaled distance from the Home Islands to Iwo is also reduced. Otherwise the map would have been larger still..

Greetings , the  Kanto Kanto/load512.ini  gives a load.ini error for the map, and quick mission builder.

Hello again, placed a Underscore between load_512 , game now indicates " Map 2D Missing".

When the map fails to load, hit <shift>+<tab> at the same time and see what the error line gives ...

It should be near the bottom of the page and will give more information on the error ...

Thank you for the prompt response and your work. The shift tab indicates:

Java .10. file not found exception.
Section [ Map 2D ] not Found in Maps/Kanto/load_512.ini . I will try again without the uderscore.

There should more lines, almost to the bottom. One of the lines will have ERROR in it - and usually a the end it will say that there is a file missing - cannot find ....xxxxxxx

That is the pertinent line ...

Without the underscore ( Kanto Kanto/load512.ini ) shift Tab indicted:
1st time: Game crashed!
2nd time: Warning: TL Landscape: Load Map (Kanto/load512) errors in loading.
Last line: World. Land()Load Map() error Java.

 Thanks again.
