How should I made some generic SCW He-51 skins?
walter_solito:
Hi!
I'm planning to realize a set of generic skins for the He-51 about the SCW.
As you know it has not game placed markings so use of dedicated markings is mandatory!
But in Spain they wore plane code plus individual plane registration number....so 131 individual numbers with a lot of skin variation for many of them!
Moreover not all went to Legion Condor but directly to spaniards....
So what I was thinking about was to realize a set of skins with historically correct wings , tail and fuselage identification markings used througt the 36-39 period , with a great skin camouflage variation but without individual plane number (apart the ahead number 2)....
What do you think about?
I'm looking at your suggestion about before start my work!!
All the best!

Hi, Walter,
That's a great idea. Quite often it's almost impossible to know the serials of all the planes participating in a particular battle, so a good solution is using some known planes and add a bunch of generic companions. Plus, skins for all of the He-51 in SCW would make a headache to scroll down the whole list in menu when choosing. ;D
If I may give you my opinion, you need at least a couple of early, grey skins, with different patterns of Saint Andrews crosses, black bars and discs over the wings, and white wing tips . Then a couple or may be 3 different camo later skins. Camos varied a lot as you say. You could do a regular Legion Condor splinter (geometric grey, green, brown) a Spaniard 3 coloured irregular patches scheme and may be a 2 coloured irregular one. Those were the most frequent, I think. For the markings over wings, variation is similar to the early patterns.
They usually had double black disc in every wing, big white St. Andrews crosses, more or less wide white wing tips (sometimes painted so carelessly on top of half a black disc ;D) and a great variation of black bars or none of them. You can get inspiration from the many great historic skins already made for both periods of SCW.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your replies mates!
@juanmalapuente
The way you suggest is the way I have thought to do....some little trouble in wings roundels and markings as many of the photos I got are from side....anyway I'll try to overcome the trouble with some more variation....
ATM I have finished the very early skin:

Hi!
Thanks for the tip!
I'll look at this aspect as I came back at home because atm I'm on holiday and I have a netbook for work and this mean that all graphics values are setted to minimal and colors to 16 bit....
