Aviator Mod Team - Grumman F7F Tiger Cat
« on: December 22, 2009, 12:04:10 PM »

Firstly an apology, sorry i didnt post this here when we first started but it's here now :)

Anouncing a new project and Colaboration. The Aviator Mod Team Presents the Grumman F7F Tiger Cat that will soon be coming to IL-2.

The Grumman F7F Tigercat was the first twin-engined fighter aircraft to enter service with the United States Navy. Designed for the new Midway-class aircraft carriers, the aircraft were too large to operate from earlier decks. Although delivered to United States Marine Corps (USMC) combat units before the end of World War II, the Tigercat did not see combat service in that war. Most F7Fs ended up in land-based service, as attack aircraft or night fighters; only the later F7F-4N was certified for carrier service. They saw service in the Korean War and were withdrawn from service in 1954.

I saw the Tiger Cat on Flight Files on the Discovery Channel. That Plane had me spin out with the way it flew.

A few years ago I saw at the Kalamazoo Air Show a TigerCat fly formation with an F4F Wildcat, F8F Bearcat, F9F Panther and the Grumman F-14 Tomcat. It was called, obviously, the Cat Flight. It was a pretty cool sight. And loud as hell. :)
