One clear thing is
  • DBW1.71 has a bug, it causes any MOD Carriers cannot have working Catapults.
and only 1 solving is
  • installing "SAS AI, Engines, Hotkeys & Carriers Mod v2.5" onto DBW1.71.

Today, I make a new install of Stock 4.10.1m.
Installing SAS Superpack UP and DBW on it.
DBW1.71 runs well.
And I install "SAS AI, Engines, Hotkeys & Carriers Mod v2.5" onto this DBW1.71.
DBW1.71 runs well with "SAS AI, Engines, Hotkeys & Carriers Mod v2.5".
Nothing error or crash.
Essex 1960 pack catapults work well with F-4PhantomII.

Western

I'm downloading the whole 1.1 to 1.7 DBW stuff again (NOT the borked Superpack) and I'm going to have one more try at getting this to work.

Will let you know.

What a nightmare this is becoming:

Tried New IL2 Disc - Runs okay
Upgraded it from 4.07 to 4.101m - Runs Okay
Installed UP3 - Runs okay

Installed DBW 1.7 Superpack - Runs okay
Installed SAS AI, Engines, Hotkeys & Carriers Mod v2.5 - Game wont even start, reverts to exe every time.

Restored Game to UP3 stage

Installed DBW 1.7 all mods and Updates - Runs okay
Installed SAS AI, Engines, Hotkeys & Carriers Mod v2.5 - Game wont even start, reverts to exe every time

So that is it for me, there is absolutely nothing else I can try to get this to work, I have tried every combination of the various elements, every update for all the elements, 2 separate discs of the game, latest exe files, you name it I have tried it. As soon as I drop SAS AI, Engines, Hotkeys & Carriers Mod v2.5 into the DBW folder the game wont run.

I wonder if it something to do with the English version of the game - is that possibly a problem - any of the huge brains out there got any idea what it might be ?

-RAM?
-Missing mods?
-UP enabled?
-Something wrong in selector?
-Wrong selector version?
-Mod conflict?

Guys,

I tried reducing my RAM setting from 768 to 512. I found that activating SAS_AI_Engine_HotKeys_Carrier still does not allow the game to load.

Cheers,

Riptide

Tried all the things above ... when I say I have tried every combination of things I really do mean exactly that, I have spent over 7 weeks trying to get this to work.

I honestly cannot think of another thing to try, apart from buy yet another new disc and try again, but having tried 2 different discs I cannot see the point.

The only solution for me is up the max speed of the carriers to 120 kts and when I need to fly off get them running at that speed, I can just about get off the deck with no weapons in the F4.  It looks stupid but it's the only solution for now.

I would be interested to know if any of you guys who have it working are using:

A.  An English version of the disc
B.  Windows 7

Deep s**t. I feel for you after 7 weeks. My answer is Yes to both A & B above.

Just reverted to my vanilla DBW1.71 folder and dropped the SAS AI, Engines, Hotkeys & Carriers Mod v2.5 in and it starts ok - not that it's of any help to you.

Only difference in my version is that I did include the Jetpack 1.2 files.

Clutching at straws - but you're not running the game in 'Program Files'....

Cheers - Redfox

Cheers Redfox, it is a pain in the ass ....

I have tried it in Prog Files, outside, created a new file for it, tried everything suggested on the many threads about this subject, but I will have a go with the Jetpack files as well, you never know

I think you need jetpack 1.2 to succesfully use the mod( or at least I think Western said so in the hotkeys/ engines etc thread).

I downloaded the SAS hotkeys engines mod but I cannot open the readme file. Any chance a download got corrupt or sth? could someone check?

Unfortunately I'm not DBW user to be able to help you more.
I am sorry.

I think I am getting to the bottom of this problem.

I have just tried loading the Mod 1 file at a time and I have found the file that is stopping the game starting;

File name: 96F4C2FA0F2B0FD0

I can load the Mod without this file and the game starts okay, so this is the offending file I'm pretty sure.

Anybody know what it is and what it does, I have no way of opening it.

Diving Hawk - every download I have made of this mod the read me is borked, I have never been able to open it.

Ok m8

I try to dehash class you say from the mod but I can't it gives me error.
So I do not know what that class is for.

Maybe another one is willing to try and see if there's anything wrong with this class you talk about?

I also dehashed another class after it from the mods I have installed to make sure my java stuff works and it worked 100%
