Amazing 1/16 Aluminium AC models
« on: December 13, 2009, 03:00:24 AM »

Hi guys
I just recently discovered the amazing work being done by retired Japanese dentist, YC Park. He does aluminium 1/16 scale aircraft with sick levels of detail, including fully-working control panels, surfaces, etc.
Here's a few pics to show you just what I mean, then go and check out the site, if you're into this kind of thing: http://www.craftsmanshipmuseum.com/park.htm

Talk about attention to detail, especially when you think that all the little control mechanisms work as designed... ??? ??? 8)

I met him, and saw much of his work. Its even more crazy in person. Can you believe its almost all just aluminum gutter flashing you can buy at the hardware store, and most parts are not machined but hand formed?

Yeah, blows me away, this level of craftmanship. Was in the Imperial War in museum in London recently, and there were several models (Typhoon, Bf109E, Hurricane) built to the same standard, but painted wings/fuselage with cutaways into the 'innards' including control wires, fuel and hydraulic lines, ammunition- just unbelievable- think the Typoon was 1/12 scale, built by RAF apprentices during the war.

These things should be displayed in museums, and I'm absolutely serious about that. The detail is just incredible... I can honestly see this proudly standing as a scale replica next to the real thing, or even as a substitute in some smaller/poorer museums. Just... wow!
