North Korea 1:1 public beta
« on: December 12, 2009, 04:07:21 AM »

Here is a public beta release of my North Korea 1:1 map:

*Update - Beta 3*:

http://www.mediafire.com/?ntgwyhxhdg5

This is a work in progress, and changes will be made in future.

*Update - Beta 3*
=================

- New actors.static with objects removed that were causing problems for some people. This version should work for those having trouble saving.

Changes since beta 0.1:
================

Detailed industrial areas added.

Airfields cleaned up and populated. Taxi points tweaked.

Osan Airfield now appears as it did in 1952.

Roads and rail lines expanded.

Coasts now at sea level.

Rivers at sea level for ~100 km inland.

Bridges along coastal rivers are now functional. There are now about 80 functional bridges on map. Roads have been reworked around inland rivers and through cities.

Textures changed. Map now looks more like pictures from the era, with light earth tones rather than lush greens.

*leftover bridge objects removed.

Notes:
=====

The major airfields (Kimpo, Osan, etc) are based on best available data, and may change as new information is found.

Some of the smaller strips are meant as emergency landing strips only (as they were historically) - trying to take off from Inje or Briscoe field, for example, might be tough.

The map is very large but fairly lightly populated. It loads in ~30 seconds on my machine. Important areas, like industrial sectors and ports, are more detailed. It may become more populated in future releases.

There is no proper map_f.tga, so if you play it on less than perfect settings, you might have problems.

Trenchworks may be added to the MLR in future releases. They will be in a separate load.ini, so old missions should not be affected.

Osan airbase is designed with F-84's and other jets in mind, so there is much more runway going west than east.

If you find a major problem with the map, like a missing bridge or a malfunctioning airfield, please PM me with the location and I will fix it for the next release.

The map has been tested in UI 1.2 and HSFX 4.1

Thanks:
======
Delvpier, MBug - Textures
Agracier and Redko - Help and advice
DixieCapt & Flatspin - Builders of the original KTO map.
All the beta testers (too many to list)

Thanks to Checkyersix.
Everything works well after  installation into ../Files/maps/ folder of HSFX 4.1 , including all.ini entries. Thanks for providing the info where the map was tested (at which version of the game). After some pains with recent new map installations, it was great relief. Missions are saveable and flyable.
Congratulations !

I have SAS ModAct with 4.09M- it should work, yes?
I suspect it will not work.
Yesterday I tried it with 4.09 with SAS modactt, and mission saving impossible resulted.
 Perhaps you would be happier?

Yes Uzin- you are correct :(

Guess it will have to be one of those I will have to defer until I get one of the big mod packs working.

Well, looks great anyway :)

Sorry, I haven't tested it with SAS mod activator. IIRC, the new objects used are from the Mod fortifications, Mod Hangars 1 and 2 packs, and Mod Tarmac plates. I *think* everything else is standard.

This map works fine in UP 2.0
I just installed it like any other map,change -MODS to MODS and if you do not have the MapMods/Maps folder set then create them in your MODS folder.

Add the map and the _Tex folder to > MODS/MapMods/Maps/(_Tex and the map folder sit here inside the Maps folder)

Open the all.ini and if you do not have an all.ini because you needed to create the MapMods/Maps folders then copy the all.ini out of Files/maps and paste it into MODS/MapMods/Maps/(paste here the all.ini so it sits in the Maps folder with the _Tex folder and the actual map folder)

Add the "add to" text to the all.ini so the map names will be in the FMB list>
Add just under [all] to have at top of list or at bottom of list to have map sit at the bottom.

Add to the all.ini>
CY6_North_Korea CY6_North_Korea/load.ini
CY6_North_KoreaW CY6_North_Korea/loadw.ini

That's it,should now be available to load in the FMB.I installed it ok into my UP 2.0 and I saved a mission to fly on it with NP.

With installing maps ete to your MODS folder a quick renaming to -MODS will deactivate the Mods folder and put you back to just the UP 2.0 making your game crt=2 compliant again so as to be able to connect to crt=2 games online.

Hope this helps S!

Hey I got up with UP 2.0 and it works great- anyone have any QMB missions yet?

I'd do it but I am so lame when it comes to that. Tried once for two weeks to try and set some up for CanonUK's beta map and my missions never seemed to work  :-[

Thanks
