Just installed the 1GB with 6dof exe on my PC:

4gb RAM - GTS250 1GB DDR3 - XPsp3 @ 32 bit

All work fine and now I can load the huges map without trouble!!

Sadly I have the same problem canucky has, game doesn't boot up at all with 32-bit XP and 4gb RAM AMDquad9950

Guys, you have got to identify your system and if it doesn't/cant use the modified .exe it Wont. You cant have what you dont got.

Ive got about a dozen matches that pop up when I search C:\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 for the IL2fb.exe to replace with this.

Does the Cliets4GB_exe.jsgme go in there as well, or can I ignore that?

I try not to ignore anything around here!
Ok well its backed up a swapped, but I notice no difference where I needed it. trying to run some of the defense of the Reich missions with big bomber streams at high altitudes. Really choppy and depending on the angle my canopy glass and contrails will dissappear.
system is HP Pavilion elite HPE, AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.00GHZ, 8 Gig RAM, ATI Radeon HD5450, Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

these exe's are geared more towards map performance, ie: loading of big maps in FMB and running them.
they won't help that much with overall game performance, depending on what you're doing...in this case, it sounds more like a game engine limitation, which there's not much you can do about...you could try using less/lower FX mods, but especially large formations of planes, with contrails at altitude, will always be a problem for the ageing game engine - it struggles with this kind of scenarios even without mods, in stock form.
best option would be to load these missions in FMB, and edit them by removing some of the planes, other than that, there's not much else to be done about it.
you'll more likely notice an improvement down low, when flying over big cities - this is the kind of improvement these exe's are geared to, better FPS over built-up/big maps.

Got my Trackir5 today and Im switching the .exe file to the appropriate one, 00_6DOF_Tracker_4GBVersion
Replaced the .exe file, removed all the stuff associated with the old one. Included with the 6DOF are these files:
Cliets4GB_exe.jsgme, which, let me guess, has something to do with the JSGME program that I havent used.
And these;

there dont seem to be any other like files in the main directory so I wanted to get conformation on where these go before I did anything with them.

put them inside a folder.
call the folder anything, maybe Cliets4GB_exe would be a good name for the folder.
put said folder into Mods folder.

I think I asked similar things before, but maybe I overlooked something: Is there any exe known to work with XP 32 Bit versions? My game and settings are quite nice, but some maps indeed produce probs over large cities.

(..upgrading to Win 7 next year)..
