One more reason to keep a zipped 4.10.1m and another zipped 4.11m in a cold and dry place ;)
Joking aside, I'd burn a 1-to-1 copy of the IL-2 1946 DVD, sounds like it's either close to die or your current drive doesn't get along with the SecuRom protection of IL-2.

Best regards - Mike

Hello Mike.

Could you please be more explicit ?
Do you mean the DVD is too old for my LG CH10 BD-ROM/DVD Rewriter or that my Il-2 1946 DVD is slowly becoming corrupted because of his age ? Is it possible ?

And if my LG CH10 BD-ROM/DVD Rewriter doesn't get along with the SecuRom protection of IL-2; what can I do about it to fix it ?  :-[

I still have the original CD of Microprose  FALCON 4.0 , do you think I can expect the same kind of problem ?

Thanks
Sonny Tucson. :)

SAS~Malone:
Sonny, yes, you could possibly expect some problems like this with certain older discs, and the way they interact with newer hardware, as well as the possibility of a disc getting old and tired, and eventually unusable.
this is something i've learnt years back already, and it's really good advice to either burn a new copy of the disc for yourself, or even just an image file, if you use image software.
whenever i buy a new disc, i burn it straight to an image file, then stash the disc for safe-keeping, only using the image from then on.
luckily, with il-2, you can install it once, and just make straight copies of the installed game folder, keep them as a backup. it'll work as is, without needing to be installed again. ;)

SAS~Storebror:
DVDs don't last forever. You can expect a self-burned DVD to last app. 5 years if treated well, printed ones may last about 10 years. Yes, there are others who last much longer, but never rely on that.
If you don't treat your DVD well, e.g. left it lying in the sun, scratch it, bend it or whatever, it will become corrupted much faster.

That's why it's a good idea to create a backup copy in time.

Best regards - Mike
