Axis modifier for rudder control?
« on: January 25, 2012, 07:27:16 PM »

I bought a Logitech Attack 3 joystick when i got IL2 '46.
My plan was to use an axis modifier (probably the trigger) along with the x-axis for rudder control.
I was pretty disappointed when i saw the game didn't support this.
For now im using rudder full right/left buttons and obviously its not working great.
Is there any way to use some sort of axis modifier? Any other suggestions?
Perhaps a 3rd party program? (although i tried with xpadder without much luck.)

ugh...
hold on. you do not have a twisting stick, but were hoping to pull the trigger+move the stick (ailerons?) for use as rudder function, right?
like "shift" on a keyboard?
but how do you want to use ailerons while using rudder then?
you defnitely want 3 axis for your plane

suggestions:
I had one of these, like 5 years ago. didn't keep it very long.
i used the left hand:

Thumb controlled the throttle
index (pointer finger) i used for right rudder
middle finger (f*** finger) i used for left rudder

but it was... awkward.

Its just for aim fine tuning really, i dont really need the ailerons while doing that and i rarely use the rudder while turning.
I will eventualy get a 3 peice set but for now id like to make this work.

NO, IL2 does not support Axis modifying as far as I know.  No Shift plus x axis cant be programed.  Sorry.  A pair of rudder pedals is no more than a couple of nights out.  You can do it!
Althou if you are begining, I HIGHLY recomend the X-52 Pro.

This sim is a bit of a hardware dependent sort.  Get yourself a decent setup.  You will be greatly rewarded.
