It would be pure eye candy, but it would be cool if pilots shifted to the left or right at the waist in exterior view if you slew your 6DoF view to the extreme left or right.

It would also be great if they ducked or hunched down when their aircraft is hit. Many pilots report crouching as low as possible in the seat to try to take as much advantage of the seat/headrest armor (or engine block) as they could when their plane was taking fire from the rear (or front).

Hey, Wolfighter...
I was trying to point this out since your first employment with the matter.
The posture of pilots, in both IL-2 games is somewhat neglected...
The pilots look stiff and unnatural because an axis for the neck is omitted in both cases.
I pointed out the problem before the release of BoB CloD, in the banana Forums,
but it gained me a ban for trolling!

IMO the solution to the problem will be the introduction of a neck in a different axis than the body,
in addition with a slightly curved back according to the reference pics.

Here is a demonstration of my thoughts, using the stock IL-2 pilot 3D:

Stock Pilot 3D+head-axis

Stock Pilot 3D+head-axis vs proposed body fix

Stock Pilot 3D+head-axis vs proposed body fix+head

Stock Pilot 3D+head-axis vs proposed body fix+head-axis

Compare these axis to the posture of real life pilots and you'll find the solution...
In addition check out for some proportion inconsistencies in your pilots...
They seem to have too broad shoulders comparing to the heads and the faces look rather small comparing to the head itself.
The helmets with unfastened side flaps doesn't look right to me.
You can gain some extra polygons if you get rid of them also... ;)

If you could make a generic pilot with additional helmet-goggle details and masks,
for the different relevant countries would have been super! ;D

Sometimes i think few people get atention to the details, but when i see the JapanCat works i see litle fixes making BIG improvements, give a thing called "Hight Quality Work".
The Pilot is part of  plane! A baloon head in worg position in a well done plane... messed up!!
  Congratulations again Wolfighter! Is perfect!
