Posture of pilots in real fighter planes
« on: January 18, 2012, 03:10:53 PM »

Hi all

Today i was seeing some pictures of CloD the pilot model its great but his posture looks some artificial to rect for me, same problem i il2, i near for release a new RAF pilot want give a more natural position, try to find a posture natural but at the same time generic that can fit in most planes.

Please if you want make some suggestion post some pictures of pilot flying his planes.  :)

Epic topic, already! :D ;D

Is this some decent reference?

Maybe somewhat hard to see... just posted it anyway, the hurricane is so nice!

This is too much, I think:

Still, my overall conclusion is that in IL2 the pilot's heads and shoulders are too straight up.
The back should be a littlebit curved and the head a littlebit forward - the pilot should lean just a bit forward.

A lot is going to depend on the angle of the seatback, and the given pilot's own posture. If the seatback has a very "laid back" angle to it it will make the pilots head look like he's leaning forward when in reality his head is upright and his body is leaning back. Some people tend to hold their head more forward also. I think a somewhat more forward cant to the head would give more 'action' to the pilot, I.E. he's looking at gauges, craning to see as far as possible, etc.

Can I suggest to move the neck a little bit more ahead?
