They have already gone leaps and bounds toward disarming us, so why not this now.
What a crock.
I hate to pull out this old standard but I really, genuinely believe that the brilliant, forward thinking visionaries that founded this great nation would be appalled to see what it has become.
Sad times indeed.

Yet another draconian attempt by the "powers that be" to restrict free exchange of information over the Internet. The form of government we now have here in the US is a plutocracy, not a constitutional republic. This is exactly what happens when government and big business (corporations) merge. Our liberties are being taken away from us one after the other and no one seems to give a rat's ass!  Just goes to show you how dumbed down the average American has become.

Gotta run guys, I need to go watch X-Factor and then check the latest news to see what color Snooki has dyed her twat hairs this week!

Well imagine how easy it will be for big companies/US officials to shut down sites they do not like.

I pay a certain guy or a group of guys to upload copyrighted material and/or logos to a site,
The admins being all too human will not be able to see it in a blink of the eye
I then accuse the site and maybe close it down.

Maybe then take it to the next level!:
A government does not like what a certain group of people are organising through media( See Egypt, Lybia, Syria and other protests around the world using internet to get organised)--> uploads a thing considered for legal action--> is free to jail/mute the leaders

They do not like a certain company? --> they do the same
They do not like videos --> they close upload sites.

Either way the possibilities for muting/stopping/closing down free speaking will be endless.
So much for the western world trying to send democracy to other states when we violate it ourselves!

Sry for long topic.

We are definitely on thin ice here. A chunk of our population is absolutely clueless about most everything , except the really important things , like who are the finalists on American Idol , how many times X celebrity took a shit yesterday  , etc etc blah blah fricking blah. James Madison , founding father , President and one of the main authors of the US Constitution , wrote in the Federalist Papers that the only way for a Representative Republic to survive was to have "... an educated , informed and engaged populace". My man CWMV is absolutely correct - our founders must be appalled! I do have contacts on Capitol Hill that tell me that the bills have very little chance of being passed - the proponents of the bill underestimated the public outcry. I hope the enemies of freedom and liberty continue to propose this kind of legislation - maybe then , just maybe , some of my poor , stupid , misguided countrymen will realize that the pot of cold water they have been in has been gradually getting hotter and hotter and is real close to boiling , but there is still time.
