USS Yorktown CV-5
« on: January 03, 2012, 03:03:04 PM »

Aim is to build Yorktown as she appeared at the Battle of Coral Sea.
Early days as you can see.

Here she is as built, fresh from the ship yard.

Hi,
Perfect, many thanks for your work!
Hope, I can use it one day in my coral sea campaign! Your Lexington carrier works perfect in DCG!
But please, use a similar name as for the Lexington! For example: USSYorktownCV5_42, otherwise DCG dont recognize the ship as an aircraft carrier!

Thanx Ash, never thought we'd see this baby. Your other ships installed, slick as butter, great job. Your "Lady Lex" is excellent.

Now this one has been a long time coming to IL2. Anyone who has played War in the Pacific knows that 1942 was the most tenuous year of the war in the Pacific. The Japanese Navy was not a joke in any sense, and in the carrier air battles each side had victories and defeats. Strategically it was a huge loss for Japan, but in a purely tactical sense, things were about even. The Yorktown, Enterprise, Hornet, and Wasp were legendary, in part I think because all were lost in battle with the exception of Enterprise.

just a word, fantastic choice.
You'll fill a tremendous void, so important ships nonetheless still missing from the game, incredible!
A hard job to carry out, but we have not doubt about the final result, a new masterpiece ;)
Thanks master...

An interesting point which I was not aware of. What are the naming rules for DCG?
Does it need to end with a number --- or what. Does this only apply to CV's or are other warships affected?
