IJN Yamato
« on: December 12, 2011, 11:47:21 AM »

S!

Yes it's the real thing with the many guns
Uses 400mm and 155mm gun classes so it's realistic guns

Now the game was not made for such a large ship.
That creates a few issues no matter how hard I tried I could not possibly fix , including smoke not rising even though hook in correct position.
and most small guns have not got collision simply because if I wrote another line the hier file became too large and game could not read it.

It also has a few shading issues which I will correct in due time after 1 week possibly when exams finish and then you'll ahve a Beta.

But it's my best work so far including new models for everything but the 120mm flak,50 cals and 20mm flak guns

On the bright side though it works and the lines only just made it possible to add all the historical guns

I don't have it in SAS format cause I need the 2 new gun classes and ship class file and to correct a few minor things but here's a first look:

Sry for poor image quality:

I can not unfortunately remember where, but I saw Yamato 3D model from one of the members of DT. Perhaps in future we will see this ship in the game officially.
Sorry my English

WoW!! :o
She is Yamato!! Super Big Battleship!!!

Ti...Ti...Ti...
Yamato didn't have 400mm gun.
Yamato's main gun size was very very top secret in IJN, and USN/RN didn't know her gun's right size.
So, Yamato had 460mm gun!!!
Amazing! Most Big, Most Strong ship gun in man history.

and most small guns have not got collision simply because if I wrote another line the hier file became too large and game could not read it.
Yes. IL-2 1946 has Hier.him nodes limit 255.
This is too few for 1944Late or 1945 ships.
I'm worry the same problem, too.
I have an idea to tweak Hier.him reading engine by MOD and increase limit upto 510.
But I don't know which part in 1946 reads Hier.him and where limit number written.
Stopping only idea, I can't do it.

S~!!

460mm

Yep you are right in the gun class that I took info from navweaps it is 460mm.
Sorry for mistake I just named the turret 400mmJA so I got confused

Anyway if somebody would be kind enough to make the 2 new gun classes and the ship classes SAS style I can post you guys a beta.
I can send you my classes they're already working, but for our squad addon I repack all classes sth that would be a great imense FAIL here!

and btw I don't want any WoW, we are playing il2 8)

Let's just hope they tweek the engine so they can put a really awsome model ingame and not some dulled down one , that would not be nice.
I mean some of my parts go as far as a massive 1500 or 2500 faces but the ship is still a compromise!

A common cause of smoke not rising is that you have duplicate hooks in the damage mesh file.
Ensure you only have the vapor hooks in one location.

Damn you are right!!!

it's accidentally in SSC_dmg as it started as a copy of SSC normal so hook got duplicated.

Thx a lot

EDIT: No I was too hasty to gloat. I'm afraid it's just not going to work. I'll try removing some unecessary models and see what happens.

And sooo useless.

You don't blame the sword for the swordman who uses it
You must not blame the ship but it's captain.

I FINALLY HAVE SMOKE

The overall polly count is good now

THE PROB WAS ONE MORE FORGOTEN HOOK, again thx asheshouse
I'm happy now

Only 1 LOD issue to fix and then that ship hits it's final version.

We've been using it in our squad so far and we ahd no major issues.
