Hello,
I been modding and playing Falcon 4.0 for awhile and want to try something new. My question is what should I buy/download to get started with IL2?
After doing some research I am guessing that I need the older IL2 sturmovich or 1946 :-\ for starters. I am guessing that the game engine is not free as in later versions of Falcon. Also is there a need for the Latest version cliffs over Dover or is that a separate issue ? Thanks for ur help ^^

What you want is IL-2 1946. It is cheap - 11 bucks. And yes, Cliffs Of Dover is a separate issue.

Not how to download the SAS Buttons, I'm downloading the UltraPack 3.0 and I have some mods but I can not install them.

in your place I would upgrade to the v4.10.1m to v4.11.1m (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=31446).
And if you like a modded game, here is a fresh ModPack (HSFX 6) based on that: http://www.242sqn.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3179 (Bugfix expected in a couple of days.)

well first of all, what kinds of mods have you downloaded. many new mods are not compatible with 4.11.1. if you want to mainly fly offline i'd recommend you stay on v4.10.1, because there is an excellent modpack called Dark Blue World 1.71, made specifically for offline players. if you want to stay on 4.10.1, but play mainly online, i'd recommend UltraPack 3. note that ultrapack is required for dark blue world.
