Thanks man but if I can't shoot someone down or blow something up I don't need to participate. IL-2 1946 and ROF are the only flightsims I need.

I have the most of flightsim, never enjoyed any as much as IL2. Never the less you got to get an open mind. You never know how realistic a sim can be if you do not compare.

Don't get wrong LeOne It is not my intent to be condescending. I also own FSX, Xplane and host of other flight related sims and I do appreciate the realism that they offer for the most part. But I find flying a 777 from LAX to China or some other far flung location or tuning simulated radios and other nav/flight equipment quite tedious. Of coarse this is completely my opinion.
I am also an expert UP team member and have been active in real aviation for 30 years (military and civil).

I know and I agree, I can see the point of FSX users but for myself it is not an option either  :)

I fly light planes for real but it is quite expensive so I can't do it as often as I would like. With the right scenery a good plane model and a good 2rd party weather engine like ASE, which I use, FSX can get pretty immersive and very close to the real  thing, probably lacking only in actual 'feel' of the controls. I can practice an approach to a real airport with various weather conditions before doing it for real. Alternatively, I can do so in places and airports around the world that I will probably never get to fly in real life. Overall, it is a very relaxing and pleasant experience. I am looking forward to what "Flight" has to offer.

Dogfighting and online coop missions with my squadmates is my other, totally different flightsimming thing. We have our good old IL-2, ROF, CLOD and other stuff for this.

Atleast MS Flight will be free, still requires a monster rig though.  :(

I won't call it a "monster rig", even my half year old PC which took me about EUR 1K back then (and you could have had it for about EUR 700 without my silence addicted additions as well) meets the "high settings" hardware specs by 95%.
Anyway, I'll give it a try and pick the beta next weekend to see how much it's playable on that rig.

Beta applications are still accepted, by among the first to try.

I've just successfully installed everything, had no problems with the Live! ID whatsoever, got just a little worried by "Games For Windows Marketplace" refusing my login after installation, but the game itself works fine. I figured that there'll be no link neither on the desktop nor in the start menu, so you have to launch the game right from the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight" folder. After doing that (and several updates, new license agreements and the like) everything went smooth as silk.
Game runs perfectly fine on my i5-2500K rig with Nvidia 550Ti card on high settings, so don't worry too much about the hardware requirements.

On first glance everything looks a little arcade style, but as much as I understand difficulty will raise when the initial missions have been completed.
Scenery is nice, flight model of what I flew so far felt reasonable. Didn't find a Zeke to kill so far ::)
