Dive Sounds, .prs editing and 'wrong' presets
(1/1)
neuro:
Trying to add dive sounds to all planes including jets, I noticed almost by accident that all my presets were fucked up.
Almost all the prop planes presets pointed to some generic sounds called e6_xxxx.wav and all the jet presets pointed at the same three generic jetxx.wav sounds (more on that in the 'heads up' thread, sounds section), no paths to the dive sounds (1.wav and x2.wav)...
OK, I guess this happened because I screwed up at some point and installed some presets that I didnt need, probably during the transition between 4.08/4.09b1 => 4.09 => 4.09+Mods. Im saying this because if it happened to me it may have happened to someone else too, so you may want to have a look.
Anyhow, I wanted to make my sounds collection work again, with dive sounds and everything, so I started working on the presets and noticed that besides the problems noted above, there's one more thing that I can't figure out: the changes that I made to the HeS preset dodnt have any effect, I was like WTF for hors then finally figured it out: the HeS jet uses the Jumo004 presets. I did a couple of experiments and it was confirmed: HeS and 004 use the same sounds and the same Jumo004 preset.
The question is now *what* uses the HeS preset?
Would it be possible to separate them? The HeS is a more modern engine compared to the 004, I'd like to have a different sounds configuration for it (like starting the 'screaming dive' effect at a higher speed, just to mention one thing)
Right now I'm in the process of fine tuning the presets for some particular planes like the J2M 'Jack' that would start 'screaming' too soon, and there are also some planes that dont have dive sounds yet, as they still use the stock sounds and I should make some brand new presets for them, which includes figuring out what .wav files are most suitable for each plane or even make new sounds for them ... so it will take some time for all planes to get dive sounds, but most prop planes do have them, and a couple of jets too.
As for adding dive sounds to jets, I'm using prop config +100 as a starting point: same configuration as props, but adding 100 to each line (each plane should be fine tuned later but this is a start anyway). For instance, most props have the dive sounds configured as
--- Code: ---[sample.1.wav]
infinite 1
env 8
controls speed
[sample.1.wav.speed]
minlo 188
minhi 220
maxlo 490
maxhi 600
value 5.0
pmin -1.0
pmax 220
[sample.x2.wav]
infinite 1
env 0 2
controls speed
[sample.x2.wav.speed]
minlo 188
minhi 220
maxlo 490
maxhi 600
value 7.0
pmin -1.0
pmax 220
--- End code ---
...so I made the jets dive sounds configuration like this
--- Code: ---[sample.xjet_3500.wav.rpm]
minlo 2000
minhi 3000
maxlo 6000
maxhi 6500
value 6.0
pmin -1.0
pmax 2700
[sample.1.wav]
infinite 1
env 8
controls speed
[sample.1.wav.speed]
minlo 288
minhi 320
maxlo 590
maxhi 700
value 5.0
pmin -1.0
pmax 220
[sample.x2.wav]
infinite 1
env 0 2
controls speed
[sample.x2.wav.speed]
minlo 288
minhi 320
maxlo 590
maxhi 700
value 7.0
pmin -1.0
pmax 220
--- End code ---
Anyways, I only added the dive sounds to a couple of jets so far (jumo004 and HeS... except that the HeS seems to use the Jumo004 preset)
I'll make the final version available both as presets only and sounds included, but as that's gonna take... say 2 weeks, here is a beta version that you can keep modifying yourself (the data is here, only copy-pasting is left... ah, never mind the final will be out soon)
Download Beta Presets
These presets should work with almost all versions of the sounds collections published several times in different variants as "sound fix". If some plane doesnt have any sound, figure out what wav files you're missing (what engine does that plane use? what .sound files does that engine use?) and rename copies of similar sounds, or get sounds off the internet.
Now, back to the original question: if the HeS jet uses the Jumo004 sound, what is the HeS sound for?
Would it be possible to have separate sounds for the HeS and the Jumo004 jets? How?
