With the double hanger arrangement the RN managed to squeeze a lot of aircraft into a relatively small hull. Maybe they would have got added value by converting Repulse, Renoun and Hood to carriers in the 1930's.

Interesting what if --- Bismarck/Prinz Eugen against Hood CV and PoW BB?

Force Z comprising PoW and Repulse CV?
How would unescorted bombers get on against a FAA CAP?

depends on the FAA material and Pilots...
Gloster Gladiators within Dornier reach... the dorniers get through, so do junkers heinkels and the like.
Fulmars... close call. Numbers and tactics decide. Spicy...
Sea hurricanes... from 1941 on.

How about a british carrier supporting the evacuation of France... not Dunkirk- too many Stukas.
But further West... providing cover against marauding 110s...

Furious launching recon missions on the french Harbors... Flak runs.... dodging 110s...
