looking at the crossection drawing, number one has the kweel/underwater shape better.
you have put a side profile and a topdown view in your 3D program...
do that for the crossections too, it will help you get the shapes more accurate.

K I added the cross section hull plan and after tweaking I have done some improvements to the hull. I hope this is starting to look correct.

Thanks again to all that have helped

Good Luck with this blazing.

I hope some keen coder will write appropriate code for this craft so that it uses its primary weapons vs other vessels - ie torpedos - rather than AAA weapons like the other mtbs so far in the game (and of course my very transparent wish is to have the other MTBs in game to be "re" coded to do this also. ...and submarines too.

sincerely

yes, the underside is smoother now, you split it up different. now to take the red tubes with the Oerlikon Guns, and have not "3" storeys of polygones in height, but only one.
saves rendering power, good for the GPU.
and no loss in quality. :)

K I have made the gun tubes height 1 with 12 sides. I am getting ready to make the torpedo tubes. From the information I have got it says early pt boats had MkIV Torpedoes tubes and later models where fitted with Mk-VIII Torpedoes tubes. Should I make the torpedoes as asheshouse has instructed as just a cylinder with the cap removed or will I have to used a different method.

thanks for your help

My comments were about the gun shields (gun tubes), not the torpedo tubes.

Don't forget that this model will be a small object in the game. Keep the details simple.
I would think that a cylinder with 8 sides and 2 height segments would look about right for the torpedo tubes.
You need two height segments to create the cut away of the lower half of the tube at the front.

What guns does this boat have. Most small guns like 20mm oerlikon can be extracted from other models so you do not have to worry about these.

Small mast details should be 6 sided cylinder with cap removed from any end which are not visible.
Rigging wires, 3 sided cylinders with caps removed.
Flag, plane rectangle with 4x4 segments. Move the vertices around to give the appearance of a flag fluttering in the wind.
Crew can be imported from other models.

Oh I'm sorry I miss read what you said then. I  will start looking into other models.

Thanks for your help.

Form the information I have collected The boat has 2 .50 calibers and 1 20mm oerlikon. With the torpedo tubes form what I have collected in information and from pictures the tubes didn't have a cut at the bottom they where just cylinders.

now that right there is starting to look nifty-difty
if you could add
- a few polygones to represent that fat bulge near the bow that goes along the boat...
- a simple life raft or a ,50 cal position on the bow (gun and man imported from the standard ,50 cal we have already)
- the support struts for the torpedo tubes...
- the radio lines as simple triangles...

perfect! (for the 3D part)

The torpedo tubes can have a single height segment, not 2, since there is no shaping to do at the front.
The gun shields tubes can be reduced to 12 sides.
Remove any caps from the bottom of the gun shields since they are not needed.

Have a go at mapping some texture onto the side of the hull.
You need to prepare a graphic image to use on a 512x512 24bit tga
Looks like one image will be good for both sides.
Leave space to add the deck image later.
In one slot of the Materials Editor make a Multi-SubObject material
Put your image into the the first channel of the Multi Material.
Select all the polys which make up one side of the hull.
Apply Unwrap UVW  modifier -- Edit --
Load the image in the UVW editor
Select all the faces in UVW Editor -- Apply Mapping/Normal
Experiment with the options you see in this part.
Switch to vertex selection and move the vertex around to perfectly map the points to the image.
