***( GL error: 1281 (render3d0)
« on: July 26, 2011, 02:49:27 PM »

Hello everyone, I am fairly new to this board and so I'm going to try making this as detailed into the issue as possible.
I am running IL-2 1946 with UP3.0RC3 with DBW up to 1.2. The only mode that loads when I pick it in the selector is 'Ultrapack 3' I would really like to play Deep Blue World as it has many things I would like to try :) I cannot update to DBW1.3 until around 0200 because I, unfortunately, have HughesNet and so I have about 5KB/s until that time. Here's some more details.
-In JSGME I have the following Mods enabled:
#UP#_Enable_UP3.0
#DBW_MissionPro Combo by PAL
#DBW_AIMod
#DBW_CirXs_POVMoD
#DBW_Forgotten Countries Full
#DBW_FX_Small Collection

I made sure that I activated 'Enable_UP3.0' first before the others.
Next, my log, it is all fine until about 30 lines down there is the error:
INTERNAL ERROR: Str2FloatClamp() - Clamped 75 -> 32 (delta = -43) to Range 0..32
INTERNAL ERROR: Str2FloatClamp() - Clamped 120 -> 60 (delta = -60) to Range 0..60

but those errors are there every time and they have yet to hamper playing the game so they're not the main problem, however, my log is covered from line 191 to 30108 with the following error: ***( GL error: 1281 (render3d0) Can someone please help me or direct me to the appropriate post? Thanks in advance :)

Don't enable #UP#_Enable_UP3.0 if you want to play DBW!! Then choose Dark Blue world in selector amd not Ultrapack option.

I can't help about the GL error...sorry.

Thank you for the Help! :) but what is DBW called in the Selector? There's nothing there that's like the #UP#_Enable

That selector is not JSGME, it is the il2fb.exe you use to launch IL-2. There you'll have the possibility to choose Dark Blue World. You don't have to enable anything in JSGME to run DBW, but all these JSGME options starting with #DBW_ are optional mods for DBW.

Dark Blue World. Should be the last option in the selector after Stock Game...Classic Game...ModAct...Ultrapack.
If you don't have there's something wrong in you install.

In jsgme simply disable #UP#_Enable.

cheers

Oh woops, I thought you had to activate it in JSGME Hehe 8) Thank you Guys! Y'all are the Bomb!

Edit: Ok, well I'm sure that would've worked if the ***( GL error: 1281 (render3d0) was gone XP

*Bump*
It's still not working :( I know a GL error means an error with OpenGL but I don't know what, can anyone help me?

Edit: Here is the Log from beginning to where the error begins to occur.

OK, now I see:
Render: Intel 915G

Has anyone got IL-2 working properly with such Intel integrated graphics? I've just heard that those early integrated graphics just don't have the power to render games with playable FPS and also have so buggy drivers that many games just don't work.

Looks like Intel drivers have some important OpenGL extensions missing and thus don't support IL-2 properly. Thus I think this is not an IL-2 bug but rather a graphics driver issue. Maybe updated drivers or some special conf.ini settings might help, but I don't know about these and likely most others here also don't know since they have some nVidia or ATI/AMD GPU. If you can't get OpenGL to work, at least you can try to run IL-2 in DirectX mode.

Or maybe you can find some old GPU somewhere and install it into your PC to get better IL-2 experience. If you are not about to buy a new PC then maybe you can get some very affordable used GPU somewhere and get an enjoyable IL-2 experience with it. Anyway, you should check whether your PC has AGP or PCI Express slot available for graphics card and good enough power supply for it before you try to buy (or get for free) a compatible used graphics card.

I hope you can somehow get a PC that lets you enjoy IL-2 and DBW, but with current hardware it is at least difficult since that Intel 915G is not designed to run IL-2 or any other 3d game.

Can you give us your exact Hardware specs?
Have you updated your Drivers?

I have an Intel Core 2 Quad  CPU Q6600 with onboard GPU @2.40Ghz
2.00 GB RAM
NVIDIA Radeon GeForce GTS 450 1GB
450W Power supply

Before I bought this card and new Power supply in March I used a very crappy 256MB cheap GFX card and 150W that came with the rig. Unfortunately this sucky card melted while I tried to run UP 2.01 in Perfect mode. After 2 years of normal and 6 months of abusive (perfect) use this card was crap. Blue-Screens/Fatal errors. I have made my experience, with a crappy card you can run, but it won't be fun. It was my fault, no doubt. After the card was over, I couldn't use IL-2, as my onboard GPU was too weak.
Age of Empires 2 was the only thing I could use, with stuttering. I got another borrowed card, which I suppose was crappy, from a friend, I couldn't run stock IL-2 and got Blue-Screens/Fatal Errors?! Then I knew I need to buy sth. new!!!
If you get Blue-Screens, my honest advise, leave this rig and update your hardware.

Even with this card I don't misuse anymore, I screwed the gfx down, to a mid level, slightly high Textures (in Conf.ini).
As DBW and UP3 are hardware hungry, even my rig is not capable of perfect. It can run this, but I would experience high stuttering, flickering, random CTDs. I could reinstall in that state every 2 days from scratch, just to realize the next Mod can break it again.

What you can do with your rig is install 4.010m IL-2 and play around with Conf.ini to see where's the max. your rig can hold, to get an affordable mid. range settings, where you can play at least stock IL-2. If you can't buy new hardware and wanna play you need to go through this anyway. Testing out your rig, getting a sense for your install, this avoids you to overshoot.

If it's strutter free, you have luck, all commands response in time? No delay, lag? See yourself on my post below, if you try to overload it will be your harm.

If that works flawlessy try the SAS Modactivator. Then again, it needs further testing how many Mods it can hold, a CTD indicates it may be over.

I would say it can't hold DBW or UP3, maybe on very low settings, but then I would prefer mid range at least on stock and only a few Mods (no 2 GB bloated Modinstalls!!!) of course.
Modded IL-2 can be very hardware unfriendly, huge  Skinfolder, Gb's of Mods, FX, Sounds etc.

It runs just a little jumpy on UP3.0RC3, it's only DBW that just doesn't even try to load. I select it and press 'Start IL-2' and then it just closes out. I made sure by watching the processes on the Task Manager. Also apparently when in DBW I'm in perfect mode because of:
WARNING: 'Perfect' Mode required pixels shaders
WARNING: 'Perfect' Mode is not supported for this combination of hardware and drivers.

INTERNAL ERROR: Str2FloatClamp() - Clamped 75 -> 32 (delta = -43) to Range 0..32
INTERNAL ERROR: Str2FloatClamp() - Clamped 120 -> 60 (delta = -60) to Range 0..6

So how would I turn it off without going in-game? Conf.ini?

Computer Specs, that I could find:
Dell Dimension DV051
2x Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHZ
503MB of RAM
Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express

UP3 and DBW use the same conf.ini file for graphics settings (unless you have two copies of UP3 with DBW on one of them), so you can't be in perfect mode with DBW if you are not in UP3 (with your hardware you obviously can't run in perfect mode). In the logfile you have loaded IL-2 successfully and started a mission, so were you running UP3 then? Because you can run UP3, that DBW loading issue is likely some error in switching between UP3 and DBW, or then you have somehow corrupted DBW install.

Can you write how you're trying to change between UP3 and DBW now so that we can spot possible errors?

Knochenlutscher, with Q6600 and GTS 450 your hardware should pretty easily handle perfect mode. However, with 2 GB RAM you should be careful with RAM usage setting in selector options and use at most 512 MB setting, preferably less. I expect you should find pretty easily settings that let you run in perfect mode with every graphics setting maxed. Those stutters and other issues may be caused by running out of RAM, or then you have installed some incompatible mods, too many extra planes, or you may have some PC issues like weak PSU, heat issues etc., but at least that hardware should be good enough for perfect mode. Just keep testing perfect mode with unmodified UP3 and DBW using different RAM usage  settings. Check also your CPU and GPU temperatures to make sure you don't have cooling issues, as long as they stay normal perfect mode shouldn't damage your hardware.

Ok here's how I'm switching them up:
First off I open JSGME and Disable all mods.
Next I select the IL-2 Selector and select 'Dark Blue World'
Lastly, I press Start IL-2 then it doesn't even try to load.
