Clouds and their cloboard and cloudsA files?
« on: July 02, 2011, 11:50:42 AM »

Yesterday I was fiddling around a bit with an existing cloudmod and redid the .tga, so far so good,  but I was wondering what the use is of the so-called cloboard and cloudsA files that are included in the cloudmod folder.
I really got no clue.

A screenie of my attempt till sofar:

Nice one mate

They would look great as a second version looking like really dark and formidable rain/thunder clouds(massive storm front moving in).

But the thing with making clouds darker is that in every weather condition clouds get dark then or by editing parameters I get an unatractive combi of dark and light clouds.
As it stands now I decided to keep it in the lighter range.
At least these clouds do have more volume without being too demanding on my system.  ;)

This is how the WIP clouds (Thunder) look like at the moment.

wow, they look super!
but, with these beautiful clouds one definitely needs the "AI not seing through clouds" mod (when it will be released, hopefully soon!)
best regards Uufflakke and thks!

Hi Uuf,

They certainly look very good to me.  ;D

Keep at them.  ;)

Will appreciate them very much at a patiently waiting future date  ;D :D as would suit three projects I am working on.

Still working on the clouds and experimenting with the values of the DATA.cld file.
Both screenshots are weather conditions set to THUNDER but with different values.
Second screenie shows clouds with more volume but also a bit more demanding on the system.

Still have to sort out what happens after changing the cloboard and cloudsA file though.

Looking good Uufflakke,

I really hope you can sort this out mate, the fact that we have no really big cloud formations is a big immersion killer for il-2. I was wondering though if it is possible to give the clouds a look similar to that in the light clouds mod post here.
