Nice pics, Wildchild. Yes, actually this mod looks more like a mixture between the real Dragon rapide and its predecessor the DH-84 Dragon, which was also militarized and used as a bomber in the first months of SCW, by the way.
It has the Dragon's spats and front part. May be it could be developed in both mods, one for an improved DH-89 and another for the DH-84, just making wing tips squared.

This bird really deserves a 3D upgrade.
I had a chance to get a flight in a Dragon Rapide a few months ago with a pilot who really knew how to fly it, that was a great experience. I would like to repeat this - virtually at least  :)

Hmm, I've got this in the back of my mind now, thinking of several improvements that could be made. A specific list would be good.

... and if the Dragon Rapide would from now on be totally skinnable, that would be a wonderful improvement as well ... proper skins on an aircraft do much to improve the suspension of disbelief thing that we all rely on so much for these kind of games...

Any chance of doing this version (wich i think is a field mod), for our virtual SCW fans around?

Used for bombing operations during SCW by the Nationalists.

The Iraqi appear to have used a variant of it, the DH84, on same configuration:

Notice also 2 forward firing machineguns.

Actually, the Capitán Pouso was one of the military DH-89 that Spain used for colonial duties before SCW. They were equipped with dorsal gunner position and bomb racks. UK was selling them widely for exportation.

Also a lot of civil DH-89 and DH-84 were modified to be used as bombers. Some of them also had a forward firing machine gun in the cockpit and were used ocasionally in dogfights against Heinkel 51 and  Nieuport NiD 52. There's a case on Huesca Front of a DH-89 defending and saving a Latecoere-28 from the attack of 2 Heinkels 51, unfortunatelly, the DH-89 was shot down, but it's an example of the versatility of this machine, which was almost as fast as fighters used in the first months of SCW.

I agree with Agracier. Skinning this bird should be much fun, specially in civil militarized planes. :)
