I am reposting here one of the first mod by Josse: the IAR-80 and 81 series revisited

I have also added to the pack the re-texturing of the IARs cockpit done by Tyr, and lastly there are new default skins for the 3 stock IAR's, which they badly need.

Because Josse used some novel effects for his initial mod, everying may not like those , or have the corrects sound files to hear some of the guns. We did a version of the gunfiles that uses universal sound references and effects, so you have no chance of a conflict. So We give to you the choice of downloads:

 

Download Original Josse Mod, With original Effect Settings and Sounds, Incl Cockpit by Tyrl

or

Download SAS Version, with Universal Effect Settings and Sounds, Incl Tyrl Cockpits and New Default Skins

or

Download just the Default Skins for the Stock IAR's

Download just the Tyrl Cockpit reworks for all IAR's

Sorry but it needs a bit of rework for DBW. It creates a lot of duplicate files.

Works very well in my DBW install ... can't say anything about double files or not, but here it flies like a charm. I've also liked this odd plane out ever since I first bought Il-2 ... it's a nicely maneuverable plane with a great feel of torque to the way it handles. It's great to have more versions for this one ... many thanks

It works for me too. It's just that for some reason (the duplicate files?) needs more free space than other mods (like the spit Vc - late ones -, Spit VIIIs, my own P-40 ultra pack etc.) So in practice it's like I have to chose or spit Vc+VIIIs (so a lot more planes at the end) or the IAR pack. It's not the only one that is "heavy" installation. Grumman FM-1 works very well when you have a lot of free space in your disc but for some reason if you have a lot of things pushes you a lot to the cursed java memory limit. A-26 (for 4.10, but I suspect for 4.09 too) is another "heavy" installation. With all respect to Frankiek, I 'll try to make the installation a bit lighter. I hope I can do something about it because it's a plane I really love and the mod is marvellous.
