[MOD] NEW MIDEAST MAP V1.02 by Nounette

Hello everybody,

I've just released version 1.02 of Mideast Map (versions 1.0 and 1.01 were only published at AAS in order to get a first feeback and Kaapteni has already tried it).

You can download the map,latest version here
EDIT :
Mideast Map has became MideastBIG with the addition of Egypt.

As it's a very big map, there're still some things missing but main features are already there.
Please read the release notes (introduction, contents and missing features).

Sometime in the future I'll release a "1948 Israel Independence War" campaign based on historical facts.

Any collaboration both on the map and the campaign will be welcomed.

Hi Nounette, and thank you for this nice effort ! It looks very interesting !

I downloaded and installed the map, it comes fine in the FMB, but I can not save any mission... did you use some new objects that is not in your pack ?

Hi everybody,

Thanks for your comments. Please keep giving your feedback so I can improve the map.

@Gaston: The map was developed in IL2 4.09 with UP 2.01 + DLV egyptian mod (you have just to copy the egyptian objects in your 3do folder as they are already declared on the static.ini of UP 2.01). If you don't have this installed you can have some textures or objects missing. You don't need to activate any mod with jsgme or hsfx.
Please read the installation guide inside the pack.

That's great.

Now to everybody:

I've just released v1.03 with plenty of new features (and specially graphic improvements that should provide a much better flying experience). I've also populated most non-populated cities.

Here's the list of v1.03 update:
1) Improved city textures and fixed problem with Tel Aviv and Haifa texture rendering and building positions
2) Added trees to field textures (tree maps - only visible in perfect mode)
3) Added 3D effect to textures (bump maps)
4) Added more building objects to static.ini
5) Added more variety of buildings and trees to Haifa, Tel Aviv, Nablus, Jerusalem, Nir-Am, Sejera, Netanya, Acre, Nahariya, Bir al Maksur, Hadera, Kiryat Ata, Deir Yassin
6) Updated houses from Egypt objects pack in order to see them from farther (10km instead of 1km)
7) Fixed/improved some layout textures (specially black textures in river shores)
8) Added train stations to Nablus, Saida and Beirut Port
9) Added/fixed some bridges and heights
10) Added ports and updated layouts of Beirut, Saida (including Old Citadel) and Sour
11) Populated Al Faluja, Sour, Saida, Beirut and Damascus
12) Modified Sde Dov Airport position
13) Improved building textures to avoid "twinkling" in light surfaces.

The Israeli community is vary happy that someone is continuing this effort - Thank you.
We will we downloading the map and flying with it over the next week.

We would like to help contribute to this effort as best of our abilities.
Do you have any comments / guidelines as to which kind of issues would you like us to help with?
How can we otherwise help ?
Obviously we can have access to lots of historical information regarding the time frame and we can supply translates and pictures of area's, etc.

We (and me personally and may other talented members) would like to help also from a development perspective, so if there is something you can fork off that we can help with, we would be happy to assist.

I've already collected a deal of info of 1948 war and already began to create a campaign.
I'll welcome all the help you can provide both with improving the map and creating the campaign.
