Hi Gerrit,

I've split Borneo in two as well.

Mostly a Northern and a Southern map.

Northern map just below Tarakan Island to Kuching should cover the Japanese landings at Miri and Seria as well as Australian landings from Tarakan Island to Brunei.

Southern map covers the Dutch activities; airbase and naval installations as well as Balikpapan.

Celebes most with Morotai and Halmahera Islands

Java full map

I thought about splitting Java in half but it has so many volcanos on the island and thought it wouldn't do the island justice splitting it in half.

Also seems to be a lot of airfields in between the volcanos.

Just doing some research today.

Using White Cats textures with his permission previously of course.

REQUEST
Recently I've become more interested in the early Pacific battles so I just got a new book, Bloody Shambles part 2, and it covers in depth the forgotten battle for Java.
Like many others, I know very little about this part of the war.  IL2 has helped with the flyable CW-21 but sadly there is not a Java map to fly on.  The Dutch air force as well as an American P-40 squadron were there.

Java is a long island that has several allied airfields.  I don't even know yet if the Japanese had land bases (perhaps in Borneo?) or if they exclusively used Navy planes from aircraft carriers.

A FMB map could possibly consist of Java + part of Borneo (if necessary for Japanese bases).

Who wants to make this map of Java?

edit:  This link has the basic background of the campaign & map... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Java_(1942)

Wasn't just Dutch and US; RAF also retreated to Java after the fall of Singapore - mostly Hurricane 11's but also remnants of Blenheim Squadrons.

Unfortunately we don't have those - or do you perhaps know something I dont? Guess the Vildebeesteay could be hacked from that early japanese stringbag thingy who's name currently escapes me....

No, we don't have the Hudson or Vildebeest, I simply mentioned them to complete the RAF's list of aircraft used over Java. Nor do we have the Glenn Martin 139/166, used over Malaya as well as the NEI by the Dutch, or the CW-22 Falcon, Fokker C.X (Kestrel engined) or C.XI-W,  to name a few of the ML/MLD aircraft. Or Japanese stuff- Ki.48, Ki.51 (though this is being worked on by somebody at Aviaskins!), F1M2, C5M, G3M.

Wow someone's working on a Ki-48? That would be a brilliant addition to so many theatres of war. I use the frankenplane Ki-51 (and Ki-30) from here, find they both fit the bill quite nicely and great for early Japanese battles over Malaya, Burma etc. There's some great skins for them too. The "Sonia" is good too for late Kamikaze ops over Pacific like the attack on the BPF when Fireflies downed virtually an entire formation before they got through (oops no Firefly either).
I guess eventually these missing planes might come along.  :-\

As far as I know the Ki.48 is not being worked on, but the Ki.51 is- see:

No Frankenplane, but the real McCoy.

Pity about the Ki-48 but the "Sonia" is a step in the right direction, all in good time I guess.
