I am building some missions for an IL-2 movie I am making and I would like to know if their is a way to add one or more of my skins to the static aircraft in 4.10? If so how do I do it?

Is this going to work with 4.10 ? I went to conf.ini and looked under
[Game] and couldn't find ClearCache=0

I am really sorry to be such a dunderhead about these directions but what does
( fly QMB w/ desired skin--Quit ) mean ?
Also I went to the Cache folder and it is empty so I copied the desired skin folder there, then I went to the Mod folder to look for 3DO folder so I could copy the desired skin folder there. There was no 3DO, Plane, or summer folders so I added all those folders. If I did that right now what do I do ?

OK I am now totally frustrated , LOL.
I read everything and followed the direction. I must be missing something. Here is exactly what I want to do.
I want to change the static aircraft / P-38L_Late skin to one of my skins, my skin is named is Camo_II, does my file name make a difference?
Here is my file path.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\P-38L_Late\3DO\Plane\P-38L_Late\Summer

skin1o.tga
skin1o.tgb
skin1p.tga
skin1q.tga

I set ClearCache=0  followed the direction
close IL-2 set ClearCache back to ClearCache=1
rebooted IL-2 and the default P-38L_Late is still the silver one and not mine.
Also IL-2 displays the  P-38L_Late as  P-38L,Late 1944
Help.

it seems you're not understanding the process properly. let me try and explain. ClearCache = 1 or 0 is irrelevant at this point. basically, if it's on 1, it will clear the contents od the Cache folder that were 'dumped' there during the game session.
either way, you start the game - play a QMB mission using the skin you want to be the default. while ingame - pause and minimise - do not quit the game!
now, while it's minimised, navigate to the Cache folder, and look inside the folders there for the files your plane is using, it'll either be a folder with the plane name, or a numbered folder.
inside will be the skin1o/p/q files that the plane is currently using (in the same game you've just minimised).
now copy these files to somewhere of your choice.
now, you can go back to the game, and quit the game completely.
now take the files you have just copied, and replace the ones in your summer folder from your post, overwriting the ones there(BACK THEM UP FIRST!!!).
now, when you restart the game, your new default skin should be good to go.

I still can not get it to work. I followed the direction you posted just now. 
When I first tried to do this there was no 3DO folder in the Mod folder so I created one and then set up this file path, is it correct ?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\P-38L_Late\3DO\Plane\P-38L_Late\Summer

Inside the summer folder are these 4 files

skin1o.tga
skin1o.tgb
skin1p.tga
skin1q.tga

the path is okay,(although i would recommend you run IL2 from a location OUTSIDE of Program Files) and yes, you then replace those files with the ones from the Cache folder...

OK Thanks,  I will move IL-2 to My Doc Folder and try again.

 I still can't get it to work.  I moved the Ubisoft / IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 to my My docs folder on c: drive and followed the direction.  The silver skin P-38L,Late still comes up as the default. I don't know what to do now.

I posted a shot of my cache folder . First I copied the files from the P-38_L Late folder, that didn't work then from the 4944 folder,that didn't work then from the -7017. Still doesn't work. What should I do now?

Gerax is right - i should've picked that up earlier myself....
