Manchuria Retextured
« on: February 01, 2011, 02:20:41 PM »

Inspired by the retextured version of the Manchuria map by Phil_K (try his nice repaint here: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13276.0.html) I wanted to give this map a try myself.
Initially I only had the intention to repaint the city and village textures but one thing leads to another and decided to retexture the entire map.
I made a selection of textures by Mixx, Agracier, Compans, and Redko. When necessary I edited several textures and harmonized them afterwards to give them the same colour range.

Here are some screenies of my work in progress:

With the same actors.static cities and towns looks more populated after repainting the underlying textures.

Thanks to Phil_K and the before mentioned texture masters to make this Manchuria retexturing job possible!  8)

Hi uffalakke,

This map looks pretty damn fine indeed  8) :P :D

Definitely have to look more into your method of blending textures.

You can see a major difference in map quality with your blending technique.  :D 8)

(I'll have to read your tutorial again and again.)

Could fly a lot of interesting pre War planes on this map.

Cheers kirby

Changed some textures, created a few new ones, edited village textures and added BumpH maps.

Thanks for the compliments.  8)
This will be the first retextured map I will release. I think release date will be end of next week or the week after (yes, the infamous two weeks... ::))

Changed the summer trees into an autumn version and wasn't satisfied about the previous mountain texture I had.
Created a new one and looks better I think.

Still need to find the right colour for the ocean. According many images the waters around Wladiwostok is more blueish than I expected to be.
Unfortenately the same blue colour will be in rivers and lake also.
Looks quite unrealistic in my opinion. So I need to find a nice compromise for that.

Small update:

Besides changing the roads of the city textures to a lighter shade of gray I bump mapped them. Now cities like Wladiwostok appear to be even more populated which is fine in my opinion.
Changed the colour of the sea and added another texture.

Basically it needs some finetuning and I think I will release this retextured map as soon I've finished some quick missions based on the Battle of Khasan (1938).
