Yea, I'm sure most of us would.
no doubt the Screenshots thread would be full of us flying under the bridge within minutes after a download link comes out.  ;)

Pretty sure it's illegal.

It is now. There's no specific rule saying you can't fly under a bridge, but there is an FAA rule saying that you can't fly below 500 feet except over open water, and even then you must keep at least 500' of distance from "person, vessel, vehicle, or structure." Given the congestion of the SF area, you're probably also going to be limited to a minimum altitude of "an altitude of 1,000 feet above the highest obstacle within a horizontal radius of 2,000 feet of the aircraft."

There might also be restrictions due to the presence of airports, heliports, etc. And, formerly, when there were military bases in the area, and Alcatraz was a prison, there might have been further flight restrictions.

That said, the rules for helicopters are apparently different. See here:

Also, way back when, the rules were different:

And, just to show you that even the pros don't mind breaking the rules when they're flying a simulator:

Sorry, Pursuivant... But for once I will not give a s*it to rules, laws and other legal amenities...

I will fly under that bridge, and if there is a cop that want to come after me, he'll be better come up with a good stock of parachutes... Because he'll need 'em... And after blasting him out of the sky, I will make loopings around the Golden Gate for his delight...

MWHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I have a feeling that during WW2 a lot of pilots felt the way that you do. During the war there were a lot of airfields in the area, one just across the bay from the Golden Gate. For hundreds of guys in their late teens to early 20s, just out of flight school, equipped with state of the art flying machines, the temptation would have just been too much.

I bet that the Army brass had observers stationed along the Presidio battery just to get the serial numbers of the planes that tried it.

And I'm no more a late teen/early 20s jock....  Have more than double of that...

If someone of the Moderators/Big Bosses of the SAS want to shoot at me for this, feel at home.... I really don't mind, MWHAHAHA...

But this is a BUMP!  (Only to see if this project is still on or if it is already dead meat...)

Cheers

Me thinks this project is as dead as a doornail. What a pity.

It would be nice to have this map. So we can have US based training missions for the new jets of some sort.
