lol, i wouldn't want to be the guy loading my plane with decades-old munitions.... :D

off topic for a moment but funny story about that, the Iowa-class doing shore bombardment in the Persian Gulf back in the 90s was using WW2 ammunition stocks and similarly in Chechnya in the 90s, when the Transcaucasus district ran out of modern artillery shells they pulled out a bunch of 152mm and 203mm WW2 guns from mothball and started using up the millions of sixty year old shells they've still got.

As a measure of what the surplus production figures in the major industrial nations the US and USSR in the final year of the war, just in aerial munitions more bombs were dropped by the USAAF after January 1945 than there was for every other year of the war, by all the belligerant nations combined. Korea was more than just a political degeneration, it was also simply a strategic inflation caused by having geared up and stockpiled such a gigantic war industry during 1944-45, the surrender of Germany and Japan were nothing more than whimpers by comparison and something had to give...
