With regard to my previous post above I just loaded a pure 4.10 and the image is the same as for my 4.9 modded.  None of the smooth water I thought I was seeing with 4.10

The first image I posted is actually with 4.10 modded!  So contrary to my previous thoughts it could be something from the modding community that has triggered the improvements Agracier believes he has seen and not anything TD has done.  Just a thought.

Thing is, I have only added the mod activator and various maps, objects and aircraft.  So what is causing the improvement in that loading screen. ???

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Aren't loading screens pre-recorded vids? If so, it wouldn't matter how the game handles terrain and sky during missions ...

And besides, I was mainly impressed and surprised at the progression of tints that you can clearly see as you progress through different months, with other settings constant. There seems to be a wider range of possible colors, tints and hues and a smoother progression amongst them all.

Being enamored of dawn and dusk missions, I noticed that in 4.09, there were very pronounced differences between say 18:59 and then 19:00 on maps. At 18:59 terrain would still be subdued but with a normal color range, at 19:00 things would suddenly turn reddish.

In 4.10 color changes occur more gradually, with less or no distinct cut-off points between one type of coloring and another type ...

Hello Agracier, yes the vids are pre-recorded, thats what made me notice the difference, see how smooth the water looks in the first pic. Why, what's causing it if the scene was originally shot say without perfect settings originally, which the second shot appears to indicate.  I have 4.09 set for perfect yet the vid still looks the way it does, but when I load my 4.10 modded I get that smoother looking effect.  You obviously notice more subtle colour changes than probably most of us do because you use colours all the time while map making, I see other subtle changes.  We are both wondering why when there has been no mention of these in the development of the 4.10 patch.

Or is it that because this is a new thing we are looking closer at it, maybe seeing what was already there.  I guess all modifications to the sim bring all kinds of subtle changes that even the developers are not aware of.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
