I have installed the map making version of il-2 1946, and all is working fine.

I was wondering though, i have added a generic factory complex to one of my maps, is there any way i can group select the objects so that i can copy/paste and rotate them, so that i do not have to build from scratch each time?

thanks for any replies

Hi Slipper,

You should be able to do this by  pressing and holding ALT and holding down left mouse button, draw a box around the area you want to copy and let go, all the objects within the box will be marked in red, then press CTRL and C together to copy, all the red markers will disappear but all the objects will be copied, find an area on any map you like and press click on with mouse and then press CTRL and V ......voila!!

Yep that's possible as well, in FMB go to EDIT find ROTATE ALL OBJECTS and check box then click on anyone of the group of objects you want to rotate so that it's highlighted in yellow, click right mouse button and UNSELECT (or this will be the only object to rotate) then use the arrow keys to rotate the whole group

p.s Also does anyone know if there are some curved railway tracks please, i can only find a few items of rail track under the 'railyard heading' there is a straight section, two rail switches and a few items of multi rail yard track, but i can not find any rail bends or crossovers. I am running DBW 1.6

cheers

In FMB look under KDP Road plates for more rail track with bends and crossovers

I make my own maps and texture and populate them purely for personal use and occasionaly by request, i've only ever put one up for download i leave that for the experts who do it so much better but i just trawled the posts and asked questions really to find out all the info i need and can now make all the maps i like in confidence, a lot of it is trial and error as well 8)

Hi again all,

I was toying with the idea of trying to make a mapmaking DBW install,as it has a really comprehensive set of maps and objects. The problem is though that all the maps are in sfs format, How would i go about extracting maps for editing, is it possible in DBW?

Thanks all

You will need to get the sfs extractor: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,16581.0.html

You will also need to get a filelist.txt for DBW or UP 3.0. I would ask Boomer or an admin for that though because I don't think it's available online anywhere. The filelist.txt tells the sfs extractor what files are in the packed sfs files, so you need the UP 3.0 filelist in order to unpack all of them.
