Hiya,

I've been and I've got the following information I can send you - PM me your email.

-Luxembourg-Sandweiler - couldn't find

Thx again !

ELLX - Findel

was WIP in the war, but only opened after 45 IIRC.

History in german
http://www.aeroport.public.lu/de/administration/histoire.html
Law for airport establishment in 37, first flights in 45, first stats in 46,

Picture of the first terminal (yea, WTF thats a Barrack??) in 46.

being from Luxembourg, i can pretty sure say it is well represented as a grass strip SW/NE 60°/200° with one or two small medium hangars on the center north part of the Runway.
No extras, no buildings, just one of these landing strips for Storches, Ju-52 and the occasional Stuka on a cross country trip.

it exists in English too

S~GilB57:

I have been following your progress with the two maps.  The members of the IL2 community that are interested in maps and the uses of them is very diverse.  In particular the members that fly the online coop campaign using the SEOW program have particular needs for maps to meet the HSFX/SEOW standard to enable them to be of use in campaigns.  We have a campaign that is going on currently on the ashes_Battle_of_France online version of this map.  Many of the participants are from either Belgium, France, Germany, England, and the Netherlands so they really enjoy flying over their respective cities and towns.

Historical accuracy is important as well as size of the map (scale), playability, and a crucial aspect is the road and rail networks.  Since the ground is a key element in the SEOW campaigns this is an area that sometimes is neglected by map designers.  For example some of the community modded maps are great for dogfight servers but are not useful because the mapmaker did not layout the roads, bridges, railway lines, rail bridges correctly or they have blockages etc.   When roads are not layed out properly or are not complete that makes the map useless for any campaigning using SEOW.  The same holds true for trains and the rail network and rail bridges.

So the ground is crucial for a map to be able to be incorporated and used in conjunction with the Scorched Earth Online War Campaign.  That being said I hope that the map makers keep that in mind because that just expands the audience of  people to enjoy the map makers creation.  Obviously you have taken an interest in getting the historical accuracy for this map and should be commended for the effort.  I hope that the same attention to detail is put into the functionality for the ground, (roads, railway lines, bridges, water,) as is for the air ( airfields, cities, etc).  Its nice to look down from 6000m and see a city but when you have to bomb a tank column to defend your infantry at 250m or in a dogfight on the deck near a city, you don't want to be experiencing a slide show because of all the rendering.

I look forward to your releases of your maps, it is my understanding that you will be releasing two versions one for early war period and the Ardennes 1944 winter version.  These would certainly be nice to have for future IL2 enthusiasts.

Good news for you:

-In fact, there will be 3 versions : winter44-45 (current one), summer/autumn 44 (Market Garden) & summer 40 (Blitzkrieg).
-For SEOW, I'm currently in touch with a french member of HSFX team who is working to incorporate the map in the next HSFX version and he helps me to fix as many rail/roads blockages as possible.

Really nice GilB,

Will the 1940 version have the flooded terrain replaced with dry?

Sincerely,

Let me assure you that you will have fans both sides of the SEOW lines ppl.
I support Badgers view that this would have a large community stick to IL-2 1946 for quite a while. ;)

If those blockages and other issues are gone and if you should finish it & upload it here ;) I am sure this map will be downloaded many, many times.

Thanks for your effort ppl. 8)
